Heurter + SAC27 = Your Team’s PF
Clear cut. That’s what Sac has on offer. How can it work? Ideally more of a 4/5 but a straight four who can defend works too. This is the final piece to Sac’s offseason if they really want to compete in the West. Trading Barnes made the hole at PF worse.
I don’t think it can be done with Portis because of the second apron.
Beef Stew remains a prime target IMO.
Kuzma but it’s rough defensively.
Kings can’t offer any other salary unless it’s for a big upgrade and they can add Lyles/Ellis/more picks. But that is far fetched. Any deal with Lyles going out undercuts itself somewhat.

Cam Johnson seems like a decent candidate here. Brandon Clarke, Jerami Grant are some other names I'd kick the tires on.

Does SAC have the MLE left? Paul Reed or Precious Achiewa would be solid adds here as well.

These strike me as better ideas than spending a first on somebody marginally better/more expensive.

I think a midseason trade of craig + smith for huerter and protected 1st would be good

I think they were like 7’ish under the tax before the DDR move which based on early reports seems close to wash salary-wise. Kings aren’t paying the tax.

6.6 million gap from Huerter to Kuzma. That scares me a bit.
Grant is out of reach unless Lyles is added.
I like Brandon Clarke but where is he at heath wise? And isn’t he more of a backup? Ideally Sac could get a starter by using the first.
Sabonis/Len
X/Lyles
Murray/DDR
Ellis/Monk
Fox/Carter
Beef Stew would work so great in that spot. Having a bench of DDR/Monk…Kings would be legit.

I would bet that DDR starts...my goal would be DFS...he wins the same as Huerter and that quintet needs a 3D...

Carter/Monk/Ellis/Lyles/Lenn

If Monte believes confidently Jalen Smith has another level, and there’s plenty of evidence to make that argument, then I could see this. He is only 24 and has a three year deal. It’s risky though, if he takes another jump the deal could fall apart.

Worth noting (correct me if I'm wrong) that I believe we can aggregate McDaniels into a trade before the season (just not right now). That's an extra 4.5mil of fodder.

Fox/DDR/Murray/DFS/Sabonis
Carter/Monk/Ellis/Lyles/Lenn
Agreed. He’ll start. That lineup is what I'd do. But I don’t care much, start Fox/Monk/DDR/Murray/Sabonis…just stagger early. Pull Monk and DDR around 8:50 mark in Q1 & Q3. The team needs defense and length, which is a big reason to move Huerter.
DFS for Huerter straight up, sure if there’s nothing better. He isn’t a player to give a pick for.

Interesting, I thought it ran into the season.
Waiting is risky. Everyone knows there is this hole to fill, is Monte going to go into another season like that? He’ll preach flexibility, but flexibility can’t play PF.

Per Spotrac SAC is at 163.7M
However, the $163.7M is for 12 active players. They also have a $4.7M hold for their 2024 FRP Devin Carter, and will need to fill the 14th spot, so SAC is right up against the tax line
If SAC wants to spend any money over the minimum on a PF, they are going to have to either move money (in a trade, or a salary dump) or go over the tax.
In a no-win argument, the first poster to Let It Go will at least retain some peace of mind

Is the pick unprotected? I’d consider Stew for that package if so

Sac should just sign Chuma. He has really never had a chance and yet I think he would be better than anything that you can get for that package.

Any interest in Rui?
More of a 3/4 than a 4/5 though

I do think Stew is a perfect fit. I don’t think Detroit is looking to trade him. Could be wrong, tho.

Believe the timeline is 90 days before he can be aggregated, which would place it at early October. No reason a deal can't be agreed to in principle before then, and then executed then.
