They're not playing in Olympics?
Yeah they are, as long as they don't get inured.
In our board a lot jokingly says they won't wear those GER uniforms until their 225m and 22m contracts have been signed in triplicate. lol

France's roster has been cut to 14 with Jaylen Hoard and Nadir Hifi sent back home. 2 more players need to be cut, based on what we've seen in the first couple friendlies, I feel like it'll be Albicy and Strazel.
Andrew Albicy - Dreamland Gran Canaria
Nicolas Batum - Los Angeles Clippers
Isaia Cordinier - Virtus Segafredo Bologna
Bilal Coulibaly - Washington Wizards
Nando de Colo - LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne
Evan Fournier - Free Agent
Rudy Gobert - Minnesota Timberwolves
Mathias Lessort - Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens
Theo Maledon - Valley Suns
Frank Ntilikina - Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade
Elie Okobo - AS Monaco
Matthew Strazel - AS Monaco
Victor Wembanyama - San Antonio Spurs
Guerschon Yabusele - Real Madrid
Andrew Albicy - Dreamland Gran Canaria
Nicolas Batum - Los Angeles Clippers

Yea that's him, he's gonna fly between France and the US between each game
I'm just speculating but I think he signed up for the summer league as a backup plan, he was never a lock to make the final France roster and still isnt even though he has increased his chances with his play in the first 2 friendlies, but it makes sense for him if he's cut from the roster to have a fallback plan since his NBA career is in the balance.

Not exactly sure why but he won't be there until Monday (tomorrow). They gave him an official excuse from the first practice or two for personal reasons.
Edit: He was in Boston yesterday officially signing his contract.

So that is why we haven't seen a complete team photo of this Team USA roster

Yikes, this group of death is nuts.
Canada, Spain, Greece, Austrailia
Any of these teams could medal or lose in the first round.

I'm more concerned about not having anything on the bench at the 5 and the 3.
Yeah, the chemistry of the team, at least so far, is much better without Sloukas. Not that I'm against him being on the team. I've always liked him as a player, as long as he plays within his limits. But he has to check his ego, otherwise, he's such a cancer, both on the court and in the locker room.
IF, he is willing to properly integrate into the team, both on the floor and in the locker room, then it would be great. But based on the last few years, that seems quite unlikely.
The lack of another big is why I wanted Agravanis on the team. I think you disagreed with me about him being one of the best players that was missing, but he is. He's better than Kostas, and the team only has two centers. And that's a problem with fouls and injuries. Plus, let's be honest here, both Kostas and Papagiannis are soft. Papagiannis is an absolute freak physical specimen, with his enormous size, wingspan, mobility, speed, leaping ability, strength. He was just toying with Team USA's centers at the World Cup, and yet with all of that, he is soft. Kostas is also soft. He looks like his brother, but he's the antitheses of him, in how soft he is.
Agravanis is a lot of things, but soft isn't one of them. He's an absolute dog and also an absolute goon, and almost every successful team has at least one of those kinds of guys. The whole Greek roster has no one that's a real banger, bruiser, goon enforcer. Plus, Agravanis would give the team options at the five that Kostas and Papagiannis don't. He can shoot and spread the floor, unlike Kostas, and he can cover better on the perimeter and on switches than either of them.
As far as the bench options at the 3, maybe Papapetrou comes back if they make the Olympics. He supposedly needed to recover from an injury. Maybe he would be healthy by then. Or maybe they can get Rogkavopoulos back. He took the summer off because he said he needed to rest. But maybe after some time off, he would like a chance to play at the Olympics.
Yeah, something seemed off with Sloukas at the Eurobasket in 2022 coming off the bench he was adamant about chucking shots instead of throwing easy lobs to Gianni and Papagianni. He's a talented guard with a good handle and good shot, he would indeed help. I think the presence of Spanoulis could help negate some of that.
Absolutely agree about Agravanis. He's a hustler off the bench who can bang down low, get offensive boards, make an occasional three and just be annoying. I am intrigued with Mitoglou as a sort of Mirotic-lite stretch 4 but Agravanis (Ελληνικο τανκ) brought it at Eurobasket 2022 from what I remember.
"Wes, Hill, Ibaka, Allen, Nwora, Brook, Pat, Ingles, Khris are all slow-mo, injury prone ... a sandcastle waiting for playoff wave to get wrecked. A castle with no long-range archers... is destined to fall. That is all I have to say."-- FOTIS

Toughest group to advance from for sure, in large part because they didn't get the Asian or African auto bid team. Spain held serve at their home qualifier but they aren't the same Spain, I'd be surprised if they medal.

Re: 2024 Olympic Basketball Discussion Thread
Greece is (finally) good again but the roster has holes as well, the bench is weak, there's a couple of older guys who can't really play all game, and our "shooting guard" (Walkup I guess?) can't really shoot. Spain is the weakest it's been in decades and Australia is honestly nothing special, a couple of aging mid tear "stars" and some young NBA guys who haven't peaked yet. Canada is really the only serious contender from that group.

That must suck... from being on an Olympic team that has a chance for gold to being on a summer league team for $1500 a game.. and not even be the featured player..
Well Theo Maledon, come on down!
