Love me some amateur hour. The one girl they have roaming with the mic was so nervous yesterday I thought her head would explode.

I can only assume this is China's backups. No way they can be this bad.

You see, I'm super motivated to remove Nick Richards from his post.

Signing Paul Reed or Precious Achiuwa seems adequate for this.

I'm all for it, but have one hand in my pocket ready to deal the Micic card should these options fail to materialize. Nick is not acceptable. I don't mind keeping our pick because it's a great draft supposedly but I also don't want to suffer through another season like the last 2. I want the front office to pull insurance policies left and right. There's one more move.

We have two roster spots and a two-way contract remaining.

Sign Seth Curry to a vet min and Highsmith, Reed or Theis using some or all of our remaining MLE. Mo Gueye or another team's reclamation project on the two-way and call it an offseason.

I wouldn't mind taking a shot on Theis.

Still think a backup 3 is as glaring as a center.

I don’t think are glaring, I would sign some Vets at both spots who can play in a pinch but expecting to get much from a 14/15th man isn’t really what I would be expecting.

Miles will play some 3 if necessary, especially if we want to find minutes for Salaun on the occasional basis

center is much worse because we're one Mark Williams back tweak away from another full season of Nick Richards + waiver wire pickups like Bolden again

At the 3, we have Miller presumably playing most of his minutes there due to the sheer number of mouths to feed at SG (not touching on the quality, just quantity lol), with the ability for Bridges/Salaun to play minutes there, as well as Josh Green who has played a lot of his career minutes there despite being a little small for it. hell throw Martin in there too.

A big minute C/PF that can play some minutes alongside Mark allows for extra Bridges SF minutes which solves that issue as well.

Finding a big that can start in a pinch and play consistent, quality minutes that a team might be willing to trade is a tall order.

There are only a few teams that I'd argue have excess Center depth. The Magic, Pacers, Wizards, Cavaliers, Jazz, Timberwolves, and Blazers are it. And a lot of those guys probably aren't available for trade without significant assets coming their way.

So we're looking at players like Robert Williams, Isaiah Jackson, Rishaun Holmes, and maybe Wendell Carter. Carter would obviously be the dream, but we'd probably have to overpay to get him. He'd cost us a rotation player and a 1st round pick most likely.

Add Achiuwa and Reed to the list. Both available UFAs and both 4/5s. Knicks want Achiuwa back but only have 5.17mm to spend.

Here is where I stand...
PG- LaMelo (34) - Micic (14)- Reggie Jackson (x)
SG Green (26) - Mann (18) - Martin (4) NSj (x)
SF- Miller (34)- Martin (14)
PF- Miles (32) Grant (16) - Salaun (x)
C- Mark (26) - Richards (18)- Grant (4)

2 Empty Roster Spots.
Two Ways: KJ, Leaky, Center Prospect (Gueye/Stephens)

Total Mins
LaMelo 34
Miller 34
Bridges 32
Mark 26
Green 26
Grant 20
Martin 18
Mann 18
Richards 18
Micic 14

-Reggie or Micic will fight for the backup PG mins, but if Melo gets hurt having 2 Vets is solid depth.
-adding Green, I think we have enough bodies to throw at the SG position.
-Miles can play more 3 if we have injuries, which opens mins for Salaun at 4.
-Salaun is insurance for both Miles/Grant as well, he will play more than expected.
-Center if healthy we should be fine, Grant might play more in certain matchups if we want to spread floor.

-In terms of the final 2 roster spots, I think we should lean towards Vets.
or at least 1 Vet, I would say with Green signing and NSj looking decent I would lean against Curry surprisingly.
-I would be fine signing Bryce to a 1 year deal as more wing depth.
-Backup center is hard because realistically they won't be better than Richards at this point.
-Ideally I would want a guy that can stretch floor but those seem limited now.
-Jake Stephens might be a solid guy to bring in on a 2 way because his shooting seems pretty legit and he is big enough we aren't super small like when Grant plays.

Mike Muscala checks a lot of the boxes for me, Vet, can shoot, probably won't be asked to play a lot but if he does he would at least give us a unique look next to Mark/Richards.

Muscala shot it really poorly last year. 36/29/68.

Spurs just forced to waive Charles Bassey. I'm a fan. Shot 72.5% FG and 83% from the stripe last year. Go get 'em. In any case, add him to the mix of the available even if the Spurs will undoubtedly try to bring him back.

This is so spot on I simply cannot fathom anyone who after reading this still couldn't concede the high urgency here ahead of any move for a wing.

We are stacked at wing starting with Brandon Miller who projects as potentially the number one scoring option on this whole roster. We just gave 75 million to a third scoring option who can and has played the very position over a full season and excelled there. Then J. Green, Martin.

We are talking about a team who played Mensah at the 5. We also played a 6' 5" dude who posted a higher net rating than Nick Richards. Nick had to sit there and observe a short 4 teach him how to properly play his position.

Center has literally been an afterthought in Charlotte for years. When Mark Williams was drafted, Hornets fans had reason to hope for some legit rim protection at last. Now, here we are again…deficient and apparently with no sense of urgency to address this long-standing issue.
