Lakers - Portland
Simple move: D'Lo + Rui for Jerami Grant
Why, Portland?
Grant is overpaid and on a long contract and they're rebuilding..D'Lo is an expiring contract that can be used as salary balast during the season. Rui is on a better deal and replace Grant.
Why, LA?
Grant is a much better shooter than Rui and a better wing defender. Also allow LA to move Vando and they save enough money this season that they can use roomMLE.

Nope. Not worth it then.
Portland shave two years off Grants deal, while testing out Rui. Also they can flip D'Lo during the season.

Flip DLo for what? He's not bringing value back.

Value seems fair but don't think Portland have any motive to do it. You'd have to overpay for Jerami

1) Why do they need to test out Rui? They are rebuilding and have no use for him
2) If Dlo could be flipped the Lakers would've done it by now
Blazers have no reason to consider this package

Re: Lakers - Portland
Grant might be overpaid but he's still a solid player who would complete LA's front court.
Cost will be LA's 2029 FRP and enough filler to make the trade legal. If anything, Portland
probably wants another FRP, since they have to wait 5 years before they get any value
from trading Grant.

Re: Lakers - Portland
This trade is not beneficial for the Blazers. Here’s why:
1. The Blazers have no need or desire for D'Angelo Russell.
2. Rui Hachimura is very mediocre, which I assume is why you're trying to offload him to us in exchange for our much better forward.
3. This trade puts Portland into the luxury tax, and they do not want to be in the tax just to take on the Lakers' unwanted players.
4. I see no reason for the Blazers to do this favor for their rival without ANY compensation.

If Portland were willing to do this trade without the 2 firsts, it would have been done already. Cronin has made it clear with the Lakers, its 2 1sts or no deal. And that's why he's still in Portland

Zero interest for POR.

If Cronin is actually demanding two first's for Grant (considering that at least one, probably both would have to be unprotected), there are only 2 options:
1) Cronin is an idiot
2) he doesn't want to trade Grant

While I could see some convoluted scenario whereby the Blazers get two heavily protected pretend first-rounders in return for Jerami, I agree. But I think that's part of the point. The Blazers aren't compelled to give Grant away. So I think (2) is actually true.

Re: Lakers - Portland
Blazers aren’t interested in the players Lakers want to give up. Blazers are looking for draft collateral primarily. Rui is serviceable, but Russell makes no sense at all for Portland, but I suspect Portland mostly views them as salary filler to make a trade of Grant for pick(s) happen. Without a pick or 2, this doesn’t make sense for Portland’s goals.

2 picks for Jerami Grant? Good luck with that.

OP offers nothing for Portland. If they can't get some kind of future asset for Grant, they'll just keep him.

Agreed. There is no incentive to offload Grant right now unless the return is highly favorable. He's still under contract for four years and the team isn't close to competing. Cronin can easily wait until the trade deadline or next off-season to make a move. There is nothing forcing his hand currently. If he wanted to trade JG for a return like Rui and D-Lo, Cronin can do it next year or the following year. Might as well wait it out and see if a better suitor emerges.

I could be convinced with 1 with the right package as a whole, but at least look at what makes sense for Portland too, which the players alone for Grant don’t. The 2nd pick is mostly about squeezing a more desperate to make an improvement Lakers (LeBron) plus Blazers not generally wanting to help Lakers historically in general. It has been over 40 years since the Blazers and Lakers have made a trade, which seems to be based on Portland’s hate of Lakers, and there could be a PR hit for Portland to make a trade with Lakers, so it has to be sellable to fans as worth ending the boycott.

Re: Lakers - Portland
Ya - without a pick this is DOA. 2 picks is a bridge too far - I would argue that even a pick and a swap is too much.
I personally would take on Gabe to help LAL include a pick - leaves them with the big Russell contract to target another upgrade should one become avaliable during the season.
Grant + Reath for Rui + Gabe + 2029 FRP.

2 FRP or LAL can trade for Kuzma or Harrison Barnes.
