Re: Summer league 2024 thread
One player I'll be focusing on is Daishen Nix. He really needs to take a step forward this summer if he wants to carve out an NBA career. If he does, there is a pretty clear need on the Wolves for PG depth, especially one with some size. Going into Summer league he'd be my bet to end up with the last two-way contract.

He's definitely more undersized SG than PG, but he's got some skills. Kid's a bucket.
That kid won't last 5 minutes in the bigs throwing up wing and prayers like in the video. I'm not seeing much of any lead guard skills.
Who can tell on these videos anyway because everything is cherry picked to put the kid in the best light.
Why you crushing my dreams. You're almost certainly right.
Sorry! I'm usually the master of wishful thinking!!:)

Do you think he could be our PG3?
Yes definitely, i follow him last year and see him playing 2 or 3 games when i went to France and he is very talented. Still don't understand why French coach choose Malendon over him. He may be the good surprise for us in the summer league.

He reminds me of a shorter, more talented but less athletic DJ Carton

Maybe you know this better than me being from Europe. Do the Euro league deals allow for players to leave to go to the NBA? I saw he signed 3 years with Paris. I get them letting him go play in the summer (fairly common in the NBA as well,) but I wonder if he has any ability to get a two way or straight contract from any team?

Is Wieskamp similar to Baylor Scheierman?

Probably a poor man's version. He has bounced around since 2021, but hasn't stuck anywhere

Actually, one on my friend involved in basketball there tell me it is possible as long as there is a financial agreement with the european club. It also depend on the contract himself. It is fairly possible that when he sign his contract, he put inside a special NBA clause in case he got opportunity to play there.

This Jazz/Grizz game that just tipped looks to be the best game of SL so far. Both teams bringing out all their young players, including GG Jackson, Keyonte George, etc. but the big matchup is Walker Kessler vs Zach Edey.

This must be one of the alternate SLs. Vegas doesn't start until the 12th.

Yeah, this is the Salt Lake City SL. Games happening in SLC and Sacramento right now. Vegas, of course, is generally a different level but this game has more prospects/true NBA players than you’ll normally see in any SL game, Vegas included.

Edey getting the best of Kessler (playing in his 3rd Summer League...).
Underwhelmed by George. He's been saved by getting a ton of calls, but the shooting is poor, the turnovers are too high and he can’t even defend summer league players.

Re: Summer league 2024 thread
Some thoughts on SL, I can see why Knecht dropped so much, if the shot aint there he’s kind of useless, maybe he really was a one year wonder.
McCain and Bona were kind of meh and Justin Edwards is useless for such an athlete.
George is a total chucker getting a superstar whistle in SL LOL
I can see why Filipowski dropped also and Kessler looks like a bust, at least Utah found out now before they overpaid him.

I forgot to record this, might be able to find a replay later. Anyway, what about Kessler’s game looks like a bust?

This is his 3rd Summer League and he's getting his tail handed to him by a rookie. If this was your first time watching him, you'd think he was a camp invite or G-League guy.
He also regressed across the board last year. It feels like teams figured out what he could and couldn't do. And I'm not sure he has the ability to counterpunch.

Re: Summer league 2024 thread
This Utah Memphis game is a great time. Ending is crazy. Edey missing an open game winning dunk with five seconds left. Memphis fouls. After two free throws, Memphis down three, Utah fouls with .8 seconds left. Memphis makes first, intentionally missed second, Edey gets redemption for the missed dunk by tipping in the miss to send the game to OT.

Again I haven’t watched any of it, I forgot to record it. What is going wrong for him. Is he too slow, missing open shots, not rebounding well? Is whatever is happening something he can improve on, or is he just outclassed the way Moore was?
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
