Gordon Hayward is entering the nomadic, just-trying-to-hang-on stage of his career. When that stage is done, when he's cooked, then we'll pick him up.

On this note, I don’t think we should be afraid to lose brook. His offensive responsibility is small, and his defensive role, while large, is very limited.

He’s a drop big, who has to communicate and protect the rim. He’s great at it, but we also saw the limitations of how viable it is without Giannis helping early in the year when Griff wanted him outside. He doesn’t take away the rim completely unless Giannis is there on the weak-side. Giannis enables Brook.

Replace brook with another center with the requisite size who reads and communicates the game well, and gives an F on the defensive end, and I don’t think we’ll be hurting as bad as many may presume.

And this is before even talking about the merits of creating a more defensively versatile squad.

There’s a risk, and maybe I’m off base, but I think we could find capable replacements to play the defensive role that we’re also seeking to use less often.

No rim protection other than Giannis would be a big mistake, if you think we suck on D now then it would get even worse. I've wanted additional rim protection for years, the guys we've brought in have straight up sucked tho.

There are making deals to (hopefully) make us a better team and then there are deals just to make deals. I'm all for the first one but I'm not giving anyone away just to make changes. Of course there are no guarantees. There are trades on paper that look great and end up not working. If at the end of the day Horst feels the deals on the table do not make us better so be it.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Not sure if I have seen it posted, but Bucks listed their coaching staff on facebook, which includes Prunty and Baker.
I feel Prunty is extremely underrated and was interesting last year that he seemed like Doc's right-hand man on the court despite Joerger being on the staff.
My useless 2 cents: Joerger, Prunty, Ham, (3 quality lead-assistant caliber coaches with head coaching experience) and stable bench guys like Baker and Kalamian is a pretty damn good staff.

I think we're stuck with Pat. His contract is negative value and the Bucks don't have any realistic sweeteners (Marjon is not a sweetener). The only realistic move(s) I can of is trading Brook or Bobby for a lesser player at a lesser cost to get under the apron and then pairing Pat with whoever is left. And in this scenario, your bigs rotation is likely much worse than it currently is.

Outside of a 2-guard on a minimum deal or trading Marjon for seconds, I think we're done here.

I want Horst to trade Marjon for a future 2nd hoping some GM still thinks he holds positive value. I think he will be considered salary filler at best by the end of the year.

Honestly, I'm curious what other GM's would be willing to give up for Connaughton & 2031 1st (Top 5-10 Protected).

Are any of the following players obtainable?
Ayo Dosunmu
Keon Ellis
Cam Whitmore
Cam Thomas
Moses Moody
Tre Jones
Jordan Hawkins
John Konchar
Davion Mitchell

BTW I realize some of these teams will need to add filler for salary matching purposes. I'd also be willing to include Beauchamp if he adds value or is needs to match salaries.

I think If we could sign Trent jr and one of Reed/Precious and then move Pat to get under the second apron, that would be a decent end to the offseason for what they had to work with. Pessimistic side of me says we probably don't end up with any of them lol.

Dosunmu, Thomas and Hawkins are probably the only 3 on that list worth considering giving up the 2031 1st in my opinion.

Not sure what pieces would have to go back, but you'd probably need to make a move beforehand so you can add more players to the deal under the 2nd apron.

Is Ingram still good anymore? Seemed like the season went fine and then he kind of fell off in the playoffs.

I'm actually pretty surprised that we seem to be pursuing players for that last roster spot. But maybe the Highsmith overtures came before we signed Prince?

I was just looking for players whose salaries were less than Pat's.

As long as we're under the 2nd apron after the Ingram trade, we can aggregate to get him. We'd then be hardcapped at the 2nd apron.

Kings get: Bobby, Patty C
Pelicans get: Lopez, Huerter
Bucks get: Ingram

Pelicans are one of the few teams said to like Heurter. How desperate are they? Sounds like pretty desperate.

Or signing Highsmith would've allowed Horst to dump Pat and get under the 2nd apron.

You can't just "dump" someone. You can't release someone, you're still on the hook for the salary. Trading Pat for a pick would work, but the other team would have to have cap space AND want Pat AND want to give up a pick.

Bucks get: Ingram / Lyles / Ellis
Lakers get: Lopez
Pelicans get: Russell / Vandy / Pat C / MarJon
Kings get: Portis

Works Financially and we get under the 2nd apron

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
