That's not a good analog. Hardaway's better & comes off the books earlier. Doesn't tell us much.

Hardaway's 1 year salary is about the same as Pat's 2 year salary. Hardaway was well below replacement level last year, Pat was above replacement level.

The total value of the contract doesn't matter. When they are being paid does.

The Pistons needed to hit the salary cap floor this year under the new CBA, which THT's contract accomplished (with the Harris signing as well). Cade's extension next year, combined with the team options on their young players will be enough for the floor next year.

You're probably just getting worse but younger if you go for Ingram

And you're just losing your Khris/Giannis cheatcode for free so no thank you

Let me tell you a tale of an Eastern Conference Finals series against Toronto….

BI was worse

Yeah…. I’m going to go ahead and disagree.

EDIT: anyway, I think the converse is also true, I’m not sure Middleton has ever had as good of a playoff series as Ingram did a couple years ago. 27/6/6 on elite percentages.

Mids two best performances may have been the past couple years.

Also, Ingram vs Middleton playoff performances is an odd reason to not pair them.

Look through those games one by one. Middleton had one good game (in a loss) and 5 putrid performances.

If he could’ve been half the player he was this past playoffs, we win that championship.

He did a weird Kobe, “I’m not going to shoot” thing which lost us what was likely our best chance at a championship (including the year we actually won)

I was very aware how bad Mids was in that series when I made that post

My guy, one of these dudes put up 24/6/5 and hit the biggest clutch shots in an NBA Finals. And it wasn't Brandon Ingram....

Wizards are asking for 2 firsts for Kuzma on a 3 year $23.5M per deal.

Who’s offering 2 firsts for Ingram demanding $50M per over 4 years?

Maybe it’s bad enough where a team trades for him as a distressed asset without an extension telling him to prove it.

No I don’t want that to be the Bucks. We need more defense not less. But BroLo might be the best the Pelicans can hope for in a multi-team deal.

Ingram shot 35/25/90 and was benched for a team that literally had nobody to replace him. Thats how bad he was. Khris sucked in that series but in a “we need you to be all nba level, not ok level”. Brandon Ingram was playing for the other team.

If we can get Brandon ingrim in a BroLo deal, do it and figure out the fit doesn’t work before the deadline.

Kings supposedly are still interested in Kuzma and Lauri.

Maybe Brandon Ingram is a backup plan.

But how far off is Bobby considering even after his extension he’ll make half what Ingram will go for, and doesn’t have a history of being injury prone with Tim Thomas syndrome?

However it’s a fair argument the Kings would rather deal future picks (maybe very stupidly) vs their only very good defender in Keon Ellis.

No thanks on Ingram. Whoever gives him his next contract will regret it most likely

What’s the point of Kuzma or Lauri when you’re already trotting out Derozan Murray and Sabonis? Brook and Bobby both make more sense for that roster imo. I just have zero interest in Huerter so I’m not sure what the return is.

I could see the negotiation being the Kings offering Heurter and 1 first and the Bucks counter with Keon Ellis and Lyles and that’s the stop.

Ellis would be phenomenal, but even as inept as the Kings are, I highly doubt they would entertain moving him for Bobby.

Pelicans were +10/100 with Ingram on the floor in this past years playoffs. The only way he lost it for them was if he was towel waiving really poorly when he sat.

He's a high gravity player. As we've seen with Dame, gravity players help you even when they shoot poorly.

Ingram is one of the most gifted players in the league. He's roughly equivalent to Khris but despite how good he is, he's as much of an underachiever as Khris is an overachiever. There is no clear reason why Ingram shouldn't be a MVP candidate. He just doesn't bring consistency: not to his effort, not to his preparation, not to his approach.

In that context, it's not surprising that after two career playoff series, he can arguably claim one better and one worse than any series in Khris' career. It's what makes him tantalizing and it's also why the Pelicans are not keeping him.

Would be one of the few players I'd consider giving up the 2031 1st for
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

If you have the chance to get Ingram with Lopez being the biggest asset you part ways with, I think you have to do it. He definitely has his warts, but he’s one of the most talented players in the league.
