Another reason why I like Aton Watson more than some/most is because I have Gonzaga up there with Virginia (Tony Bennett) as schools/programs who do a great Job of teaching Solid hardcore BB Fundamentals. Along with Villanova (J Wright the GOAT) They often have players that adapt very well on the next level. Sometimes players just don't have the Mega stat lines of higher Usage players in those systems, and that often leads to becoming underrated. Willing to bet a pretty Penny, Aton has a great BB IQ.. If he can really defend as advertised (we'll see) and does knock down those open looks (mainly from 3) He will be a Gem that leapfrogs himself into the rotation sooner than later.

I’m pretty sure he’s directly responsible for Thesis and more importantly, Vitor Faverani. Also Fancy Pants Porier.

I'm wondering whether Brad's putting him out to speak more, given that winning a championship gives him his best chance to be recruited for a promotion elsewhere.

Yeah, there's definitely not "star power" on the roster as in your normal lotto pick pending superstardom, but there's a lot of depth imo. Those star power guys are often just looking to show they earned their high draft status as they don't have to worry about fighting for the basketball lives and their teams flame out in the Summer League anyways. There's also guys who have played really well at this level (or slightly higher with the G-league) in JD and Queta especially and Walsh and Peterson have had big games too. The rest is several guys who are older, more polished players, who can often step in for Summer League and can contribute in multiple ways.
If/when our G-League "stars" step aside to let the others play a couple games in it could get ugly though lol.
I just feel it's a little bit of over-rating our own guys - which I'm all for! But, other teams have guys with experience, too. Plus top picks from this year and last - heck, Brandon Miller is playing for CHA. It's not a cakewalk to the title with this group is all I'm saying.
I had a little bit of the same (assuming this SL team would kill it then mentally flip flopping a bit), and I think it was mainly driven by the roster's G-league performance. I had it in my head that Queta was dominant in the G-league, which I think he was to an extent but not nearly as much as I was thinking when I looked back at it.
So they should be solid, and the experience of playing in a system together prior should be a help. Definitely feeling both sides of the argument on this one and I think your caution has some warrant to it.
Queta for reference was All G-league first team in 2023 and All G-league defense in 2023, and was 14/9/3/1/2 .697TS% for Maine last year in 8 games. Which is good but my memory might have been a bit more there than actually happened.
Mainly these guys are meant to be star role players. Which is ideal with the big club, but could be tough to run an offense with on its own. Scheierman, JD, maybe Peterson or Walsh and you run out of guys to play off OF pretty quick. I know some of the other guys can do things as well, but I think the point stands.
It'll be fun as heck to watch, but I'm not going to care how they finish. Definitely not gonna be disappointed if they don't run away with the title. I also know that I'm not doing it right, lol.

Surprised to Springer also in the lineup, does he have a guaranteed contract for this year?

Were forgetting that Queta only avg 22 mins per game, and some of those games were during his injury recovery at the start of last season, if you see the Per36 min avg, then it gets more impressive.

The summer Celtics don't have any lottery guys like many other teams. I'm pretty sure Springer is their highest draft pick at 28. But they do have some advantages including depth; they have four regular roster players plus the 2-wayers.
One of their other strengths is having a bunch of guys who've played significant time together, as this group is basically the Red Claws with extra sharp claws. That will add to coherence. They also have very good balance, with experience at the key positions of center and point, and capable defenders or potential shot makers at the other positions.
I'm hoping a couple of players emerge, forcing Brad and company to make a difficult decision about both the 15th spot and the 3rd two way.

Yes. Springer, Scheirman, Walsh and Queta all have guaranteed contracts.
Both Queta and Springer have 3 years of NBA experience under their belts. So it is definitely surprising that the 2 of them are playing.
Those 2 guys playing is probably due to 1 (or both of these factors)
-Coaches/front office want them to get the reps in and to put in the work on their games, to get some development..we're paying them both good $ so why not get the reps in, develop them more to maximize that investment and increase the odds they are productive players this season
-The players themselves want to put the work in, get the reps in, develop, get better to increase the chances they play well this season (and possibly even showcase themselves to other teams around the league who could possibly be interested in acquiring them down the road - teams that could probably have more playing time to offer them than BOS)
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Jaelen House or Bronny?
Jaelen House is like a combo-guard..more of a 2 than a pure PG. But undersized at the 2 (a bit skinny, too). He's quick, scrappy, feisty, plays hard..can shoot a but but isn't elite shooter..can handle the ball a but but not elite at that either. Decent defender.
Just a decent all around guard..probably not an NBA caliber player but a guy who could make some $ in the G league or in an overseas league.
I'm sure Eddie is excited to see his kid play with the Celtics uniform on.

Hause, the Bronny side show is a little boring for me personally.

Offensively, he's unstoppable underneath.
Defensively, he's out-quicked and out-fluided most of the time.
He is an Enes Freedom on steroids essentially.

Is that how the Jazz guard Keyonte George got 28 points on 5-17 shooting, going 15-17 on FTs?
Edey seems a coaching challenge more than anything.

Recently Brad Stevens said he wanted the less experienced guys to ramp up and be ready if they're needed for greater roles, no doubt in light of the Porzingis injury and very short offseason for the starters. The Olympics make it even shorter. Older dudes Horford and Holiday in particular could use less minutes early on.
Springer and especially Queta have an opportunity here. Playing summer league is a good step preparing for that.

Re: Summer League 2024 – California (July 6-10); Utah (July 8-10); Vegas (July 12-22)
Here's how I would rank the players on the Summer C's..based on likelihood to have a contract with BOS this upcoming season (standard contract being stronger than a 2-way) and likelihood of contributing this season for the big club..and to a lesser extent, factoring in how much playing time they're likely to get for the SL team
1) Queta (got way more rotational mins for the C's last season than anyone else on this squad)
2) Springer (Like Queta, Springer also has 3 yrs of NBA experience and a guaranteed contract with the Celtics. If you include his time in Philly, he had the 2nd most rotational mins last season compared to the others on this squad - after Queta
3) Walsh (2nd year with a guaranteed standard contract with BOS. Did have that 1 game last year where he got some rotational mins..so that's more than the other guys on this squad who are ranked below him)
4) Scheierman (out of the remaining players, he is the only one who has a guaranteed contract and standard roster spot. Plus he was a 1st round pick, so went higher in the draft than the other guys ranked below him
5) Anton Watson (ranked ahead of JD and Peterson because the vibes just seem like he's got a better chance to contribute for the big club than JD and Peterson do. JD and Peterson are only on a 2-way..Watson might get a 2-way but he does at least have a shot at getting that last standard roster spot. Peterson wasn't drafted..Watson and JD were late 2nd round picks but JD has been w/ the C's for 2 yrs and still hasn't contributed anything yet.
6) JD (put him over Peterson because he's younger and was drafted by the C's..Peterson is about 3 yrs older and was not drafted. Both seem like long shots but JD seems like slightly less of a long shot to contribute one day for the big club
7) Peterson (unlike all the other players ranked below him, Peterson is under a standard or 2-way contract with BOS
8) Enaruna (he's the only player left who has a contract with Boston..it's an exhibit 10, but that's still something! Also, he was considered one of the better undrafted players in the 2024 draft..and got signed by BOS literally *right* after the draft ended
9) Ron Harper Jr (doesn't have a contract with BOS, but was on a 2-way with TOR for each of the past 2 seasons..and was considered 1 of the better undrafted players in the 2022 draft...he can play..a guy like this as your 9th best player on a SL team? Stacked
10) Ramsey (no contract with anyone. But the dude has 3 yrs of NBA experience under his belt + 1 additional season where he played G league but not any NBA games..and yet he's still only 23 yrs old..just turned 23 last month too..again, a guy like this as your 10th best player on a SL team? Stacked
11) Killian Tillie (I don't know much about him but he's a center and we need center depth on this team so figure he'll get some mins. And he's played some pro ball overseas
12) Jaelen House (pretty good player..gives us some depth in the back court. Worked out for the Celtics before the 2024 draft. Scheierman was quoted the other day saying that other than him, House has been the most competitive player in camp for this SL team..so def seems pretty darn good if he's your 12th man
13) Cook (I know nothing about him, assuming he's last and will not really play much..)
With that being said, I figure at least for this first game or 2, I figure they'll prioritize mins (and starting lineup spot) for guys who were with the team last season. So wouldn't be surprised if the starting lineup are the 5 guys who were with last year's team since those guys put in the work here last year, have more familiarity with the system/schemes, familiarity playing with each other, etc.

I think JD starts at point, which puts him in the starting lineup and top 5.
