LeBron is better than Tatum. Anyone saying different is lying. Tatum has the much better team, which allows him to win a title despite being total cheeks in the finals.

He looked bad during the recent scrimmage game on that end. Hes getting the start because his name is Lebron.
Spoken like a true Celtics fan. But no LeBron is still better. All Tatum does is jack up 3s.

Is this a display of veterans privilege? LeBron has the resume, but Tatum is better right now. How is this AT ALL fair?

Statistically LeBron was basically as good last year, and he's earned it the 20 years he's dedicated to USA basketball if it's at all close. If he doesn't deserve it I'm sure he will find himself on the bench late in games. That's when you can make this claim if he's sucked most of the time and is 3-12 or whatever and still out there the last 3 or 4 minures of the game.

I am genuinely crying laughing at anyone who thinks Jayson Tatum is better at basketball than LeBron James.

Yes, he’s more energetic, competes harder on defense, more stamina over 82 games. But when it comes to a small 6 game sample where we’re playing 20 MPG like the Olympics…

There’s simply no comparison. LeBron is better at every single aspect of offense, even shooting now, he’s levels ahead as a ball handler, passer, and orchestrator, he is a true point forward, and his defensive IQ is still elite. He won’t have to coast in Olympics games bc of the low minutes load.

Taking Tatum over LeBron over 82 games is reasonable. Taking Tatum over LeBron for an Olympics is lunacy.

LeBron in a single game not over any of the guys in top 6-7 in the NBA, never. I would take Lebron over Embiid, his choke playoffs history only.

We have to stop the nostalgia over Lebron, 2018 or 2020 Lebron is for the history books. He can barely carry a play in team these days.

Taking Lebron over Tatum in 2024 playoffs game is only because you are dazzled by his legendary name or you are illogical hater of Boston Celtics imho.....

Lebron is a better NBA player than Tatum and the gap is even bigger on a team full of stars where you need a facilitator.

Steve Kerr is the coach. He will pick the biggest names to start regardless.

It’s not only about who you think is the best individual player. This isn’t an All Star game.

It’s about fit and cohesiveness.

Curry, Edwards, Lebron, Tatum, Embiid should be the starters imo.

The debate should be who starts at PF between Tatum and KD. Not Lebron.

Lebron is a phenomenal fit with his Bball IQ and playmaking.

So you shoot back with a wild claim of your own? LeBron is still LeBron and is still able to play solid defense when it matters.

This is international play with some of the best players in the world on your team. I expect some solid spurts of Bron defense as he won't have to carry the offense. The dude just averaged 28/7/9 against the defending champs on 57%/39%

Not a wild claim at all. You can watch it for yourself.

Seems like there’s an argument…from the players that you know, actually play the game.

I don't think Lebron would have agreed to play if he was coming off the bench.

I think you're going to have to start Holiday or Ant as the last guy if you're starting KD. Someone who will d up on the other teams best perimeter player. Honestly, I'd probably start Tatum over KD just because I don't think scoring will be an issue with team USA. Let KD come off the bench and fire away.

It's fine. Doesn't really matter. I doubt either of them care that much.

Good to see that Kerr is going to start mostly the wrong players.

Tatum thrives as a third option on a stacked team tho

Starter is just an honorific. It's fine to start the vets. Wait until crunch time to talk about privilege.

LeBron James is now and has always been a better basketball player than Jayson Tatum. The only thing Tatum is better at is being available for, and giving high effort in, every regular season game. But LeBron is better than Tatum at basketball.
