so in the 11 matchup minutes that i see here that kessler guarded embiid, embiid put up 20? okay i guess those are the facts.

watching what edey did to kessler last night, i don't see the strength improvement he needs to guard embiid effectively.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but matchup minutes are shot clock seconds when a player has the ball. Its not like he put up 20 pts in basically 1 qtr of player.

Just look at the other players on the list for reference...for a Rookie those are impressive against MVP Embiid.

personally, i think matchup stats don't even make sense most of the time. like when you look at jokic's matchup stats, his highest matchup minute-wise is alperen sengun, and that's 40 minutes? he's only guarded by sengun 40 minutes in 4 games? makes no sense. it isn't accounting for a lot of time

but defensive BPM that says Jokic is the best NBA defender in the NBA by a lot makes sense....ok

The guy who can't even understand that if someone scored 20 points on 8-16 shooting against 1 person and 89 points on 28-46 shooting total, it means that the other 69 points on 20-30 shooting is on every other player combined is calling other people stupid lol.

Like I said

It doesn't matter what the facts are, you're just looking to confirm what you want to hear

I don't think he's an Embiid stopper. I've never claimed that. I was just pointing out the flaw of you going "EMBIID PUT UP 44.5 PPG AGAINST JAZZ, KESSLER BAD DEFENSE" thing. Cause that means in the non-Kessler minutes, Embiid put up 69 points on 20-30 shooting, 28-34 from the line, for .767 TS

So vs Kessler as a rookie he put up 20 points on .577 TS, vs every non-Kessler Jazz he put up a combined 69 on .767 TS

But yeah. Embiid put up 44.5 ppg against the Jazz, therefore Kessler sucks at defense actually.

i never said you claimed anything..?

where are the 69 points on 20-30 shooting accounted for in the matchup stats.

you can add them up

Kelly Olynyk gave up 27 pts in 6 matchup minutes 71% from the field
Vanderbilt gave up 10 pts in 2 mins 75% from the field
Lauri gave up 10 pts in 2 mins 67% from the field

then you probably have miscellaneous guys and free throws ect....

Obviously Randle + Mitch pretty much work financially...but I don't know how to feel. Offensively the floor would be spaced like crazy and you could have death lineups like Brunson/DD/Mikal/OG/KAT...that would basically be what BOS can put out there on a nightly basis in terms of 5 elite shooters.

Just something to keep an eye on...but gain of salt obviously.

I have never heard from anyone reputable that he Knicks wanted KAT.

Let's think about this for half a second

If Embiid took 46 shots, and Walker Kessler guarded him for 16 of those shots, that means he took 30 shots against everyone not named Walker Kessler, because 46-16=30. And if he scored 89 points total and 20 points on Walker Kessler, that means he scored 69 points against everyone not named Walker Kessler, because 89-20=69

It's called subtraction, you learn it in kindergarten. Though I supposed you learn word problems in like 5th grade, so maybe you just didn't pass elementary school?

You could do that, or you could just subtract Walker's numbers from the overall numbers to just get a general "this is what he scored against everybody else combined"

I guess that was too difficult of a concept to grasp though.

I guess he's trying to say that all embiid stats aren't there so he thinks more pts were potentially scored on Kessler then it shows but I'm not going to go into every guy. There are guards that get matchup minutes due to switches or fouls ect...

CP doesn't really spread false stuff like this, so I think it's somewhat legit. I'm sure there are some people in the organization that still want KAT. Doesn't necessarily mean it's a universally desired and the Knicks are sure as hell aren't blowing up their frontcourt for KAT. I don't see it happening.

yes but you get odd matchups with very little matchup minutes...like Malik Beasley was defending him and gave up 7 pts in less than 1 minute

Jordan Clarkson gave up 3 pts

Rudy Gay gave up 6 pts in 30 seconds.

It adds up man. They don't account for pts and don't assign it to the boogeyman...
