KAT is interesting because he definitely improved defensively last year. And going over the cap is mitigated by if you have a 'locked-in' team.

KAT gives you a guy that can play 4 or 5 for you and is locked up contractually for 4 more years. Randle is about to be a FA in 1 year.

I'm not saying I would do it but man, the team wouldn't be missing much, if we brought him on board.

We would have potential 40% 3 point shooters 1 to 5. That's insane.

where is bertans playing...certainly not small ball 5

He’s a stretch 5 obviously. Career 39.6 3P%

Hes never played 5 like ever. He is a big wing. He can't rebound or defend. So you can have him guard 5 which means he isn't a stretch 5.

Deuce plus a future 2nd for Kessler… is the most I’d pay.

Says the knicks wont risk losing Randle for nothing especially since they are offering Brunson an extension...and Randle is extension eligible this year as well. Big tell if they don't offer him an extension.

Obviously Randle + Mitch pretty much work financially...but I don't know how to feel. Offensively the floor would be spaced like crazy and you could have death lineups like Brunson/DD/Mikal/OG/KAT...that would basically be what BOS can put out there on a nightly basis in terms of 5 elite shooters.

Just something to keep an eye on...but gain of salt obviously.

So that’s who he was talking about when hinting at it the past few days. Hmm

I kinda prefer Randle and his bully ball ability over Towns’ elite 3pt shooting, no Mitch and putting OG at the 4 full time, but I dunno. Definitely something to think about. Towns coming back home might make him hit another gear he wouldn’t have playing in Minny too.

Thibs tho, man, that guy had some epic freak outs coaching Towns tho. Dunno how it’d work out this time between them two and if he’d let Towns play the way he wants either. Tough choice.

It's the offseason.

Arguing about the back up C on the jazz checks out for this place.

And it's better than arguing about Gallo vs Chandler.

And if im being honest, I'm looking forward to the og vs mikal days.

Mikal > OG

Maybe cause of health. But og is a better defender who can guard more positions. he also showed his bag during that pacers series before going down. If he can stay healthy all year.

Mikal < og

There is no such thing as a "fair price" with Ainge. Any mention of interest in Utah players is a complete waste of time as you would to deal with Ainge, the pick horder.

Depending on who you talk to
Towns is arguably more a team player than Randle.

And Towns is locked in for 4 more years. We could possibly keep the core + OG and Towns for 3-4 years strong.

I like Precious but he has bad hands.

Mitch's hands aren't much better.

We need a big man who can at least catch the ball and make a play sometimes.

Sounds like it. Because Kessler is probably not quite worth 2 unprotected firsts.

Not dreaming as I'm fine keeping Randle but CP was apparently adamantly reporting this. And he's locked in for 4 years. Randle can bolt after this year if he wants.

I hate the 2031 pick in the Mikal deal but, that's about it.

ObI is a bench player. No one is thinking about him or Grimes.

The team has gone from 21 wins to 50 wins. They made mistakes along the way but, here we are with a title contender for the first time in a very long time. We should be competing at the top of the league for several more years. So, being able to question the teams asset management is fine but, credit is due for where they took this team in a few short years. No GM has been able to do anything like this without destroying the future in over two decades.

I'm not saying everything they have done is bad. But you do imply lots is bad.

They have done some good and some bad. Kind of you to give Rose & Co. some small recognition, considering how little they've done for the team.

Picking up Brunson was a game changer. I give them credit for that but if Dallas had retained Brunson i'm not sure exactly how things would have played out. Wow, manna from the heavens. Of course, you know we didn't do anything to help make that happen. It was never a tentpole of our strategic planning Right?

It's just interesting watching how many Mikal trades were proposed on this board in the last year that gave up less assets and how strongly they were shot down by many other posters probably including yourself to basically only seeing one guy strongly questioning this trade. Could it not be true that some things needed to happen before others, and we needed to see how our current team was performing?

I still remain optimistic for the team as a fan but I can still see how things could have been handled better. I'm sure there's not a single person here who doubts you could have done a far better job than everything our FO has done.

I'm sure I could pull up posts from the last trade deadline where people are crapping on the idea of giving up a ton of picks for a player of Mikal's status as well as people in support of the idea. I would have wanted him too at that point but I doubted I would be willing to pay the cost to acquire him and I never would have thought it would have cost this much so it would be insincere to change my opinion now.

Nothing has changed in my view of the team since last trade deadline. The peak of the team was in January. If the Knicks would have been healthy and made it to the game 7 of the conference finals I may have been willing to pay more for Mikal since the team was obviously so close but i'm still not sure how close they are because we never got to see the team at full strength.

And 99% of the people on these boards think they can do a better job than their team's front office. I don't know why you are so bothered by me sharing my opinion.

Hear me out:

Julius and Mitch for Karl Towns

Deuce, Detroit 1st, and a couple 2nds for Walker Kessler

Re-sign Precious

Jalen / Tyler
Mikal / Donte
OG / Josh
Karl
Walker / Precious

Karl will play some backup 5. Lots of versatility here.

Return to New York Knicks
