Kessler just isn’t developing right in Utah. Utah won but had maybe 3 starters there, yikes? George is a complete ballhog, I’d hate him on my team so many bad shots and doesn’t even look at his teammates, he got like 20 freethrows though and hit most of them lol Utah won’t win much with this guy as their pg. Collier looked more promising as a pg but you can tell he isn’t a great athlete at all, he’s really slow. I didn’t even notice their other first round rookie at all.

For Memphis Edey looked okay. GG Jackson on the other hand was horrible.

Edey getting the best of Kessler (playing in his 3rd Summer League...).

Underwhelmed by George. He's been saved by getting a ton of calls, but the shooting is poor, the turnovers are too high and he can’t even defend summer league players.

Totally agree. Watching some jazz games last year and Keyonte is a poor shooter and awful defender. Je is young will probably improve but not sure he can be good.

What I'd really like to see in Summer league is guys showing they can fill a role that could get them NBA minutes rather than treating it like glorified pickup games where the feel free to jack up 15 shots a night. The two players who need a good showing are Minott and Nix. Minott needs to be a consistent plus defender who brings big energy and doesn't try to do too much on the offensive end. Nix has to push the pace, move the ball, and defend while avoiding the urge to force his own shot.

Yeah, that was the problem with g-league games and last year SL games: no design, no idea in team offense and defense. This year, I hope to see something like this:

This only works when the summer league team has players who can take on larger usage.

It is hard for someone as talented as Minott to take on a 10-12% Usage Role when he is one of the best offensive players.

Minnesota has Dillingham who can burden a massive offensive load in the summer league [See Trae Young rookie SL]. This should allow the other players to fall into more realistic roles.

I finally got around to watching some of Hifi (He Fee pronunciation). He really looks like Dilly 2.0, but appears to be a little bigger.

More like Dilly .75 but yeah, could be a McLaughlin replacement and future Back-up PG after Conley retires.

A few inches more wingspan for Dillingham. Hifi is stockier.

I like Hifi's perfect shooting form. He's also super smart in the way he plays. It was highlights of course, but he always seemed to make the right choices. He's a small guy, but he knows how to use his body to the best effect.

That would be true in most of the past years, but the upcoming team has Dillingham, Miller, Shannon, and Hifi who are all pretty clearly above Minott on the offensive end. I'd even put Nix, Cooke, and Wieskamp as better offensive options. This is the rare summer where the Wolves actually have a pretty decent amount of offensive talent.

The greater point is that the guys need to know their role.

Jesse Edwards has a chance to be a serviceable backup someday but he has to get a lot stronger.

This, plus skills matter. Shot mechanics, defensive form, ability to defend without fouling, ect…. I always think of Summer league as one part NBA combine and one part exhibition league.

I asked this earlier on the thread but will ask again, does anyone know if we can sign Hifi if we like him and he preforms well? I ask because last year he signed a 3 year deal with team Paris, and that might complicate this.

I don't think anyone knows. I don't see any articles with the terms of his contract. Not total value, or AAV. Not if there are buyouts in place or not. I guess if he plays well enough to consider it, someone will dig into the details.

"Fun" fact I came across trying to find info: David Kahn (yes, THAT one) is the club co-owner and president.
