Re: SPURS 2024 SUMMER LEAGUE
FINALLY getting a chance to see a live game.
I see gump's point about Castle's handles. Needs tightening. But his passing, court leadership, and D are solid.
Nice to be leading one.

Harrison with a sweet C&S game on display. Terrific rebounder, too. We've got a good one.

Re: SPURS 2024 SUMMER LEAGUE
Castle 3s in-game form has a hitch on the release that he does not have in practice. Almost too deliberate or something and end up being almost like a push shot rather than a flow follow-through one smooth movement.
Work to be done.

Sidy reportedly lost 20lbs and it does look like it on his face but clearly none of it came off his ass.
He's dragging that caboose around and it's affecting the rest of his body movement and basketball moves.

Re: SPURS 2024 SUMMER LEAGUE
Chinese Nat'l team played tough tonight. They scored the most points vs an NBA squad, and that's not knocking the Spurs, the CN team was playing at a higher level than the other nights. However, the 4Q defense really shut it all down for China.
Spurs - fun to see Castle be very effective and to see the obvious speed advantage work its magic.

Re: SPURS 2024 SUMMER LEAGUE
Ok, we have to start somewhere I guess. Its summer league I get it, but we were by far the worst looking squad in this group. Even China which got totally hosed against other NBA SL teams looked way better against us.
Yes it means nothing.....

Re: SPURS 2024 SUMMER LEAGUE
Updated thoughts about Castle after 2nd game:
Much the same as my first post which is somewhat encouraging cause it tells me his help defense, ability to get past people, make interesting passes, and nose for rebounding is likely just part of who he is rather than a mirage.
I really like that he showed off some new parts of his game namely seeking contact near the rim and posting up (I want to say he had 3 of them). He actually looks great in these areas and could see them developing into areas that are really special.
He does continue to have horrible form on his jumpers and yet again left a bunch of shots short...again pointing to him having leg problems. He also continues to have issues with touch around the rim oddly unless he has contact. I don't know if he's trying to anticipate it and miscalculating or what. I must say I almost saw a poormans Rondo in him at times, which is meant to be a compliment. If he could get a touch around the rim, I think that could be his absolute ceiling and would be honestly a perfect fit next to Wemby.
Other than that, it was nice to have an Ingram sighting, though clearly has a LOT of work if he wants to get on the court. Cissoko continues to look absolutely abysmal. This guy is just straight up not an NBA player unless something drastic changes. He's still young so I guess it could happen but it's honestly mindblowing to watch how he can make the worst possible decision every time he touches the ball and shoots shots that hit straight-up the side of the backboard...it's embarrassing
I like Bouyeas energy and has looked like the only guy who really helps Castle out during these games. Our summerleague team is truly awful haha!

Re: SPURS 2024 SUMMER LEAGUE

Good W even if we played as if the GE ended about 5 minutes before it actually did. Opponent ran out of time for the comeback lol
Sidy played better. Good D, and Pop's right, he's a terrific passer.
Castle poise and playing at his own pace, change of direction and speed are wonderful additions to the things you can't teach toolkit. He gets into paint well, sneaky, slinky, and physical. Made 3s. Good D.
Good team win.
Better Pop interview

Oh oof...
Castle did fall right on his hip. He played through it but I was surprised he did.
