Clippers Summer League 2024

Post#1 » by Clipp312s » Sun Jul 7, 2024 9:58 pm

We're less than a week away from Summer League so figured I'd get a thread going now that we have our final roster:

Image

Schedule:

Image

Really like the Amari Bailey addition. He's someone I wished the Clippers took at 30th and then hoped he fell to 48 but was swooped up earlier. Really impressive at the combine scrimmage. Good size, length and can play PG. I'm assuming he starts for us in the Summer League. We've got a nice squad, but man are we small. Moussa is our center now that Kai Jones is hurt/out. Really wish we got a chance to see Kai Jones play.

Potential Line-Up/Depth Chart:

PG: Amari Bailey, RayJ Dennis, Trevor Hudgins
SG: Cam Christie, Elijah Harkless
SF: Jordan Miller, Trentyn Flowers, Terry Taylor
PF: Kobe Brown, Josh Bannan
C: Moussa Diabate

Time to see year 2 Kobe Brown dominate. Let's not forget this performance :)

Bailey and Harkless, two kids that were fun to watch ball out in high school

The Dunn trade is still up in the air. There might be a lane for Amari Bailey for at least a 2 way contract if shows something in SL

Jones alluded to him having a pathway to the Clippers if he checked certain boxes. I think Flowers will get the other one but we’ll see.

FYI
As of the 2023 Collective Bargaining Agreement, the NBA added a third two-way roster spot. The goal is to give teams the means to develop players with fewer than four years of experience—part-time in the G League and NBA.

Yeah, I didn’t word myself well there. I was thinking Bailey and Flowers getting the two open spots. Though I have to wonder if they’d like another big man?? I think Diabate has run his course but we’ll see.

My best understanding is that Flowers is not a two-way, so the Clips still have 3 slots.

When an NBA team signs a player using the second-round pick exception, that player does count toward the 15-man roster limit.

I thought Cam Christie was signed that way?

Jordan Miller has one of the 2-way spots or am I mistaken on that? That’s why I was guessing Bailey and Flowers could get the other 2 available. But I wouldn’t be surprised if they look for a big man for one of them.

I’ve taken a big sip of NyQuil so I might not be the best source of info right now.

NO, you are correct, I am not. Cam Christie is the second-round exception.

I have a cold too, lol. Must be going around. Wretched. Think I'll dig up some NyQuil too. Can't hurt. Cheers, mate.

I think Bailey could take Flowers two-way spot to give that other one to a big (Kai? Moussa? Wait and see?). Just would be shocked if all three two-ways were used on guards/wings.

Bailey isn't a PG to me, but definitely a guy we should take a flier on and see what happens.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Hope you feel better. My grandfather passed and all the family came together. Some shared more than tears and laughter though. :(

It’s tough. Shows how fast things can change. They seemed high on Flowers. We even speculated he was the pick at 46 until Christie fell. It’ll be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

Rodman was... Not good at SC. Better at WSU, but meh.

If we're really about development now how come we're not in one of the two smaller Summer Leagues that play before the big one in Las Vegas? Should at least be playing in the Sacramento California Classic since its right up the way.
