Who says the Celtics are drafting 30? No Porzingis until January, their record is likely to take a bit of a hit.
And with the rest of the NBA gunning for them and improvement among their rivals, it's going to be
a rougher haul this upcoming season... Now, the Celtics aren't going to be in the Lottery (Goodbye Cooper Flagg)
but somewhere from 20 - 30 is likely in the cards.
What was our winning percentage with and without Porzi during the regular season last season? Improvement by rivals may have an impact (Chip high), but I don’t remember us being much worse without him.
It's a mistake to think in last season's terms: Other than Porzingis, the Celtics were very injury free - it's difficult to
depend on something like that occurring for two years in a row.The Eastern Conference is going to be much tougher this
season; no easy cake walk through it. The Celts are likely to manage the Regular Season: Finish with a worst
record but be ready to dominate during the Playoffs.
Mistake to think of last season (technically the majority of the Jays career), but not to make up what we think other teams might be/do? Why can’t we think of the best outcome for the Celtics, but for other teams?
I’m tired of fearing the worst before it happens to us. Sometimes I want to imagine that everything will go our way instead of fearing everything will go everyone else’s way, as we do every season before it starts and during. Every season teams made major moves, they built super teams, and every season the Celtics are in the ECF/Finals.
Next season I’m going to panic, think everything is going to go wrong for us. I’m going to be upset when we lose. I’m going to believe the chip was the fluke everyone said it was. I don’t want to feel that way but it’s always the sky is falling until it doesn’t.
I wish We could go in thinking the chip released the best version of the team. It released their fear that the moment is too big. It released them to never care what is going on outside of them. It released their Jordan/Kobe/LBJ. I want to believe that no matter what happens they will rise to the occasion. I want to believe that they can do everything now that they have gotten over the first hurdle. The flood gates are open!!
Why shouldn’t we believe the best for us too? I should never tell people not to be too cocky. I shouldn’t tell them to tamp down their expectations and beliefs. I do it anyway. I don’t know why I’m like that, but I don’t want to be.
Screw it! Rico is the next Luka, the team will be healthy in the most important moments, and Celtics win 19 in a sweep!! Just let me have those thoughts for as long as I can! I’m sorry everyone, believe what makes you happy!
