Wouldn’t you be more pissed if he went and coached another high level club team? Seems like the USMNT is a much easier gig and not in direct competition with Liverpool.

Could be wrong, but it's not about where but rather the timing.
Klopp stated he walked away due to burnout. Would be strange to turnaround a few months later and accept another managerial position.

is a national team manager a less stressful/small workload than a club manager?

I'd assume so.

lol yeah. There's no way unless the American federation really makes him an offer he can't refuse. Even then, I doubt it. Klopp admits these jobs are really stressful for him and he needs a long break.
I doubt he left Liverpool only to accept this job a few months later with all the stress and expectations that come with it.

For Klopp, I would say it would be just as stressful. The USA national team is struggling and they want to perform. And they are hosting 2026. There are a lot of high expectations.
There might not be as many games or tournaments. But it's still a lot of expectations. So every game will be amplified to some extent.
If he's in it for money only, he would go coach a team in Saudi Arabia or Qatar. I'm sure they would throw money at him for an easy paycheck job.

It is much less workload. It's more about watching games/players for the most part of the year, while a club manager has to work everyday. Training 1-2 times a day, plus around 60 games a year. There is a reason why many old managers go into national teams.
The only downside to a national team manager is that the entire nation is watching and judging, and that happens to every nation that cares about this sport. Press can be brutal even with the most successful teams/managers

I don't know, there can't be as high expectations for the USMNT as there is for Pool or any other big club he'd coach.

Possibly. But he already won a Champion's League , FA Cup, and EPL title with Liverpool. Before him, they haven't won a major title since 2005 I believe. So his work is viewed as complete, and I'm sure he feels good about it.
And lets be honest, he did it with much better talent than the US NT had and probably will ever have.
If he comes to coach the USA NT and doesn't even get out of the group stage in 2026, it might hurt his legacy.
Mentally, I know he struggled with never getting a Champion's League with Dortmund.
I dunno... I just don't think he could handle the potential failures that come with the US National Team.
It'll be great if he comes. Because we know he takes coaching jobs very seriously and with a lot of pride. He wouldn't just come, take his checks, and bounce. But he needs to be in a mental good state. Like... a 2 year sabbatical before he takes any other job.
I just don't think his line of thinking will be "Oh, this will be an easier job because it's for a national team and not club football". He's going to give it everything he has.

soccer is growing in popularity here but isn't it still kind of the red-headed stepchild of the united states sporting community?

It would mainly be about money because if it's about football, he could stay at Liverpool or go to some other big club.
Regardless of his past achievements, he'd be getting a big salary so in Europe, he'd be expected to win more titles and compete for the UCL.
In the US, anyone who knows the sport would recognize that we don't have the talent that a club like Liverpool has access to, acquiring the best players from around the world, usually players who've produced at the top European leagues already.
I don't see Liverpool signing some 17-year old wunderkinds from Brazil and even if they did like Real, it would be in addition to all the experienced and accomplished 21-24 year olds.
US, we'd need about 5 more prodigies at Pulisic or better levels to even be at parity with the best South American or African teams, let alone those in Western Europe.

It usually associated as a "rich kid" sport and requires a lot of money to get your kid through the ranks.

It’s about damn time.
Prior to the Copa, I had theorized not making it out of the group would mean a change, or so I hoped.

I hope they have a good idea of whom they can hire, 2 years from the WC and integrating a new coaching staff and system.

What about Caleb Porter? Seems to have been successful both in College and in MLS. Seems like he's probably the best of the realistic options to coach the team.

Agree....but I think they realized they had to..and now. They're going backwards. Soccer has been steadily getting more mainstream in the US. I remember it was really hard to even watch games in the early/mid 90's. Even early 2000's, you were a bit of a weirdo watching Soccer at a bar. You'd get that TV tucked off in the corner....if you got a TV at all.
Fast-forward 20 years...and Soccer is now just another recognized sport in the US. Sure, it's not the NFL or the NBA...but I'd put it on par with Hockey....only it's growing much, much, faster. You think nothing of walking into a sports bar these days...and seeing 3-4 of the TV's showing Soccer.
So this is a HUGE chance to really go next level. But the USMNT need to get through the group stages. I mean...minimum. And it was not happening with Berhalter.
I've made my feelings clear about Klopp joining.....but they really aughta offer that guy something so crazy he can't say no. Pochettino is another one I'd go for....and go big. My knowledge of coaches is mainy EPL....but I'm sure some other heavyweights are out there. There's gonna be a TON of attention on the US team. This failure is very public. So this has the earmarks of a real "rags to riches" story for a coach who can pull this off. And by pull this off....we're talking getting out of the group stages, and at least putting up a good fight in the elimination round. Not exactly getting to the moon.
So I think there will be some appeal there. I think a good coach can say "sure....but I'm outa here as soon as the WC is over" and I would be fine with that if I were US soccer.
Pay the right guy whatever he wants. A successful WC will pay itself back 100-fold.
I'll still be pissed if its Klopp....I don't care if they give him $100mil. You said your tank was empty...so go sit in the corner! =0)
