I wouldn't rule out them giving Nix a chance, basically having a training camp battle between Nix and Dozier.

I think this is highly unlikely. Nix is not the best available minimum PG and was pretty terrible last year. Wasting a second roster spot (Garza was the first,) on non NBA bench players who cheerlead seems counterproductive. Given that Dozier is not guaranteed, I assume the spot either goes to the best available player or a summer league standout should one emerge.

Very true. Thank god we are gonna be 100% healthy this season and don’t need any real contingencies

Also thank god that the west got sooo much weaker this year that roster construction is irrelevant

With Nix signing a two-way, it seems likely that the battle for the 14th roster spot (likely the last regular spot) will be between Dozier and somebody they sign before training camp. I still expect there to be 1-2 more unguaranteed signings before October. There's even a chance that there will be a rotation capable guy willing to sign for the minimum (somebody like Lowry, Kennard, Walker, or Hayward).

For more context on Nix, G league stats. Also we finished 7-27 with 14th in our conference out of 15. The only team worse was the Ignite (high school prospects,) who were 2-32.

A reminder that G League separates "Regular Season" and "Showcase" games. 7-27 in regular season, 6-10 in the showcase. Still bad, but better.

Now consider that all of Nix's regular season appearances came in March after DJ Carton received a call-up to the Raptors. Carton was the team's best regular player. It was the last 7 games for a team that was already 6-21 at that point and out of the playoff chase.

In the 16 showcase games back in November, Nix played in 6 games and the team was 4-2, going 2-8 in games without him.

Obviously, Minnesota brain trust does not consider reserve PG to be a huge need. We do have quite a few players throughout the lineup that are solid ball-handlers for their position. Maybe they feel we can figure out how to play without a PG if we get in an injury pinch. Dillingham is going to get quite a bit of PT too.

I guess we need to trust our leadership that they know what they are doing. I'd assume they will invite a few more PG in for training camp deals and maybe give them the 14th or 15th roster spot if they prove themselves capable.
