Pretty good comp tbh.

Worth noting Reid went undrafted. He did attempt a lot more 3s in college though.
I want Mogbo to put up as many 3s as possible this season. Try to attempt at least one per game.

I'd give him the green light we did for Siakam his first year shooting threes. Miss as many as he wants as long as he gets the reps. It helps us lose anyway.

Very similar physical profile to Draymond.

I reserve judgement until he plays against NBA competition. It's easy to look good when he physically out match most college kids.

Dude might end up out of the league, but its clear he has at the very least decent BBIQ while Precious's was non-existent.

i agree. summer league is kinda like a primer to know if these kids can play at all or can show glimpses of something they can contribute down the road ie quickness, BBIQ, etc and they don't need the complete package on day 1.

and then there is another level to see if they can play at a higher level against NBA pros and schemes.

I'd like to see him and Carlson start. I'm guessing we give the older guys and Dick higher priority.

Carlson / Chomche
Mogbo
Agbaji
Dick / Walter
Shead

It'll be interesting who comes out as the first option. Dick should be taking the most shots but he's shown to be very passive. Agbaji is even worse when it comes to being passive. I'm hoping Mogbo takes that opportunity to dominate inside. He'll be surrounded by shooters, including a stretch big, which will show his interior scoring skills very well.

When selecting his jersey #, he should've paid off IQ so he could be Mogbo # 5

I'd bet that Mogbo will be the best Raptors rookie this year. He has skills that will translate right away at the NBA level (rebounding/playmaking/defensive versatility) that might earn him minutes. Could see him having a Siakam-like rookie year where the raw stats don't look impressive, but he does enough to contribute to winning basketball.

He's also not stuck behind too many guys either as the Raps have a big need for a jumbo wing who can defend. The rookie guards have a lot more competition for minutes. But all the rooks should see plenty of time in the gleague as well.

It will be interesting to see if these rookies get a lot of minutes. I kind of believe that you can't have Agbaji and Mogbo on the court at the same time just because the spacing is bad. All we added was Shead and Mitchell so our back-up PG position is weak from three so the paint will be compressed.

Mogbo reminds me of Josh Okogie. I hope for the athleticism and defense to pop and maybe he keeps the ball moving. Future stopper is in his cards, but we really need to add shooting to this team.

I continue to disagree we need to add shooting. We are better off having Trent over Mogbo? I doubt it.
We may need better role players, but when our best player isn't a good shooter nor elite on defense, you just need to fill so much from your role players. The root problem is the core, not the role players, imo.

Mogbo and Ulrich Chomche have the highest ceilings of the draftees.

If mogbo can develop a shot, he's borderline a perfect SF for this team.

Jerami Grant: 6'6.50 without shoes, 7'2.75 wingspan, 214 lbs
Jonat Mogbo: 6'6.25 without shoes, 7'2.0 wingspan, 217 lbs

Draft Year:
J Grant: 31.4 MIN, 12.1 PPG, 6.8 REB, 1.4 AST, 0.8 STL, 0.6 BLK, .496 FG, 0.00 3PT%, .674 FT, .547 TS, 21.1 USG, 6.4 BPM
J Mogbo: 28.9 MIN, 14.2 PPG, 10.1 REB, 3.6 AST, 1.6 STL, 0.8 BLK, .636 FG, 0.00 3PT%, .692 FT, .648 TS, 22.7 USG, 11.1 BPM

Grant was also a 2nd round pick who was drafted based mostly off his size/motor/rebounding/defensive ability. While he was probably further along from a shooting standpoint than Mogbo (Grant also didn't hit any 3s in his draft year), he had to develop his shot at the NBA level and it took him years to get it at a somewhat consistent level.

If Mogbo can develop some kind of shot, his ideal position is as a jumbo wing. If the shot doesn't come, he's likely destined to become a smallball 5 or a guy who plays next to a 3+D C.
