I've heard some people say Tony Allen.. And since we're only talking ceiling which is not necessarily going to happen maybe that is accurate

I also think more like post age 30 Beverley, not peak Beverley. Forgot to mention that lol

I think that might even be a reach. People don’t understand, NBA players (ie guys that actually get regular rotation minutes) are incredibly talented. PatBev was an absolute monster in high school. He has nba skills so beyond Bronny it’s comical. And this is coming from someone who is not a Beverley fan.

Bronny isn’t even a g league level talent. He is an undersized sg who can’t shoot (ft’s included), has a mid handle, and league average athleticism. It is mind boggling that he is going to be on an nba roster much less was given guaranteed money.

I mean it doesn't sound particularly wise for the team or fair to other players who would've wanted that guaranteed contract but it's not mindboggling. He's on an NBA roster because of his dad, who is a top 10 player right now, a possible GOAT, and the most influential player in the NBA.

Patrick Beverley, who is 36 now, was still a really good player at 30: He made his third All-Defensive team in the following year, shot .397 from 3, and was at 6.5 boards and 5.1 assists per 36 with a +10.5 on court and had a 1.5 VORP.

Yup..same reason why Thanasis has been taking up a roster spot and getting guaranteed money from the bucks for a few yrs now..

I don’t have the patience to watch this whole 9 minutes, but I predict Ramsey is going to do a thing or three that will have us HYPE in SL:

Damn, he can play..and he's still pretty young. Nice summer league flier.

Think he got on our front office's radar when the Kings beat us (check that..destroyed us) a few yrs ago in the SL championship game and Ramsey was one of the best players for the Kings.

Then there were rumors that we were thinking about signing him to a training camp deal (possibly a 2-way or possibly the 15th roster spot..I think that was last season or the one before)

Then he was on the OKC g league team that just beat us in the g league finals. So clearly our front office guys are familiar with him.

Who knows, maybe between Ramsey and Watson..one gets the last roster spot and the other gets the last 2-way (still not 100% positive if Ramsey is 2-way eligible..)

He's 23 with 3 years in the league already at the easiest position to transition into the NBA. Haven't seen him play but also haven't seen any defensive stats from him to offset his shooting under 30% from the 3.

G-League Anthony Edwards!!

I watched the first five dunks, hyped already. I was grumpy Kylor Kelley ditched Boston for Okc but now I think we got the (much?) better of the deal.

Hmm didn't realize he was a former SAC 2nd rounder.

Wouldn't mind making a habit of turning their athletic former second round picks into quality rotation guys.

I was kind of expecting us to draft Ramsey back in that day. Was one of the youngest players in the draft, top 30 recruit, fearless but not as efficient scorer from the Big 12 & a scrappy defender. He also shot the 3 well his one year at Texas Tech. Was a classic Ainge/Brad pick that never became an Ainge/Brad pick.

I don't know that we were ever high on him, but I fully assume he has been on our radar for years. His production in the G'League hadn't been so encouraging but he seemed to pick up his play a bit last season.

I wouldn't put them on the same level. Thanasis is 6'7, 220lb, and began his pro basketball career before Giannis was even drafted. After several years of struggling in the G-league, he got on the roster of one of the best basketball teams in Europe on his own merits.

On the Bronny James situation-

His contract is meaningless to any worthy prospects. There are 450 slots to play in the NBA. Anyone good enough is getting a fair chance at one.

A young player of Bronny's level would have been better off patiently developing their game in obscurity in Sioux Falls or Delaware or Rio Grande Valley. The harsh spotlight of LA is a negative.

He's a 55th pick. Picks in that range hardly ever matter, and other than the temporary noise this doesn't either.

Except it might, negatively, to the Lakers. The Lakers could easily disappoint and if they do this will repeatedly be brought up as an example of their shortcomings.

Nepotism is everywhere in the NBA and has been for a long time. It's all over organizations, coaching staffs and front offices, including the Celtics. (I'm looking at you Austin and Deuce.) A lot of guys turned out to be very good at their jobs (nice work Deuce) but the bloodline did give them their chance.

All in all the whole thing doesn't matter. Good luck to Bronny. He seems like a decent kid which is an accomplishment, considering.

After watching that video I thought he was Lebron size. Looked him up and it says 6-3 190.
looks like some NBA skills none the less.

I don’t get the measurements because he looks like an easy jumbo-sized 2/3 in that video — but I guess everyone in the G league is just miniature?

His 3pt form looks fine but as others have pointed out %s have been low — I doubt he makes it as an NBA player but again I think there’s a good chance that he has a highlight play or three this summer that has us posting about how he can have the 15th spot or (don’t read this Shak) Walsh’s spot or (green font) Jaylen’s spot.

On the topic of receipts I generally liked him in his draft, though I only make big guys my binkies so it wasn’t like that.

Scouting Reports
Jahmi’us Ramsey Scouting Report

September 1, 2020 Richard Stayman
Jahmi’Us Ramsey is a scoring-minded wing from Texas Tech. As a freshman, he averaged 15 PPG, 4 RPG, 2.2 APG, 1.3 SPG, 0.7 BPG, and 2 TOPG on shooting splits of 44/43/64. Below is his full scouting report:

Name: Jahmius Ramsey

Height/Weight: 6’4/ 195

Wingspan/ standing reach: 6’6/ 8’5

Hand size: 9.75

Position: SG

College/ country: Texas Tech

Tools: Scoring, athleticism

Pros:

Great athlete
Good jump shooting upside
Plus slasher with good first step
Great in transition
Passing upside; he’s able to read defenses to make creative passes
Cons:

Must improve left hand
Needs to improve ball handling skill
Jump shot needs slight polishing- off hand and follow through can use improvement
Needs to make quicker & better decisions with the ball
Ball watches defensively and gets beat by off-ball fakes
Lacks great body control defensively- off balance & falls often
Needs to improve finishing at the rim
Overall:

Ramsey is an offensive-minded wing that will likely see his best immediate impact come from shooting. Despite an outlier percentage at the line, Ramsey’s jump shot form shows optimism in the shot translating rather smoothly. Ramsey is a better shooter in catch & shoot situations, but he is also capable shooting off the dribble. In order to maximize his offensive skillset, he will need to develop his left hand and improve his finishing ability at the rim. While he has a plus first step that helps him attack the basket, Ramsey often gets lost in decision-making at the rim, which may partially stem from his weak left-hand ability.

NBA Comparison: Floor: Timothe-Luwawu Cabarrot; ceiling: Rodney Hood

Ah the unintentional comedy.
