It might be worth having a separate Bronny James thread vs. general S/L thread. Lots of interesting and fun happenings seem to be getting buried under the James mystique. Like from even the Lakers-Heat game, Knecht looking better, and on he Heat side, Alondes Williams had himself a really nice game and seems to me like another potential Heat diamond in the rough find…

If he were, let's say, 6'5'' or better, he could have a chance to stick. Now at 6'2'', it's very difficult for him.
For perspective: if Avery Bradley were to come to the NBA in this year's draft, would he have a chance to have a 5+ year career? And I'm being generous, Bradley was much more skilled than Bronny at 19 year old.
This is my train of thought, his size is the issue....PG size but in two games it seems like he's not comfortable performing PG duties....6'2 off guard? who seems to be having issues creating separation....who doesn't seem to have a quick first step.....isn't good at finishing.....isn't really shooting well....It's just a tough sell at this point that he's at nba level, i'm not quite sure he's at G-league level if i'm just looking at these two outings.....He is playing hard and his defense is far ahead of his offense for sure....but then you get back to the size issue, where do you play him? how many 6'2 SG's have you seen in todays nba? 6'2 3&D but his case no 3 for now just defense...He's squarely in the GP2 lane right now
Yep. And think about it: Bronny didn't play PG in college, and also didn't play PG in high school as well. So he's basically a combo guard... but he doesn't have the necessary skills to play as a combo guard (secondary ballhandling/playmaking, hitting outside shots at a reasonable rate), etc. Very difficult path for him.
I don't like the GP2 comparisons because GP2 has a way better wingspan (so he can play above his size), is a much better athlete, and most importantly, can play a role (Warriors even use him as a PF/C in small ball lineups, cutting from the weak side, spacing out, and defending the perimeter - how many players can play these 2 roles at the same time?). Bronny wouldn't be able to play like that.
Cheers.

What? Their measurables are almost identical. Bronny can have a similar career/role to Gary Payton II if he keeps developing. It's a niche bench role, but it's a role.

I'm sure Cody Williams is happy that more attention is on Bronny rather than him. He stunk up the joint last night and provided next to nothing on offense and defense (at least Bronny played great on defense).
Unlike Bronny, he was a top 10 pick. Expectations are higher for him.

Lakers could have drafted Keshad Johnson with that pic and just signed Bronny as an undrafted free agent. Keshad was all over the place last night and posted 21pts 9 reb 3 ast 3 stl 3 blck. He popped off the screen and was everywhere. Heat got another under the radar guy who will probably be a legit NBA roster guy. Bronny got the blow by quite a bit and got dropped so hard on a snatch back that he slid across the floor about 10 feet. I don't know what people are seeing in terms of this claim that he plays NBA caliber defense as a ball stopper. He got beat one-on-one solidly.

I was just checking the box scores for last night's games and see that the Kings 2 squad started three guys with the last name Jones, and played two guys with the last name Ellis. Is this Vivek Ranadive's newest scouting brainstorm?
Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.

Other teams could have drafted Keshad as well.

Not a single knowledgeable person or someone who ISN'T trolling, says or thinks that Bronny has any NBA level skill right now.ballzboyee wrote:Lakers could have drafted Keshad Johnson with that pic and just signed Bronny as an undrafted free agent. I agree. The Bronny talk has taken over this thread. It'd be nice to seperate it.

Keshad Johnson is going to make the Heat roster. Honestly I'm surprised they signed Highsmith back

Cavs begin their title defense against the Magic in the first game of the day. Cavs fans, who should I be paying attention to ? Is Emoni playing this year ?
Cheers

Hawks-Wiz at 3:30am in France, lame. They could be a bit smarter with scheduling times when the first 2 picks are french and playing against each other, there are games starting early in the afternoon they could have scheduled it much earlier.

Yeah je pense ça too. They could have put the game on Saturday afternoon in US and samedi soir for EU/UTC to bring even more eyes to the #1 and 2 picks. Missed chance.

besides watching our own teams rookies to play, there's not a lot of spice and excitement with the players in this draft. No one even knows or talks about the guy that went #1 in this draft

It's an overcast day in LA. Perfect for walking around. I may check out the Pelicans/T-Wolves game, just to see some Dillingham/Shannon action.
