Unless I'm Jared McCain’s mom, I'm not too concerned about him. He has shown that he's more than just a shooter, but he's projected to be a third-string guard anyway. I expect us to sign Lowry or another veteran guard to back up Maxey.

Good chatter in this thread, I haven't been able to watch the game but still feel like I'm learning something. Thanks.

If he can learn the game and slow it down a bit he's got serious potential.

I also think he can develop into a good shooter. He moves more fluid and way less robotic with and without the ball, compared to Paul Reed.

Agree. Council looks like he should have a 9th-10th man type of role, available for certain matchups or when the team needs a jolt of energy. Both he and Bona look like kids we would very much regret seeing develop into players elsewhere.

If he's can develop into a league average shooter for pf/c, he's gonna be here a very long time. Wildly impressed with him.

I had ridiculously high hopes for Bona after we drafted him and so far they’re only getting higher. I really hope we see some Bona/Embiid lineups at some point this season. His vertical spacing, rim protection, and defensive versatility would be an awesome complement to Embiid.

That's been my thought watching Bona, but the Reed comp falls apart quickly because this kid is a much better athlete than B-Ball. At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, he's got a little Dennis Rodman in him. While I'd love to see his game refined a bit, it's that unhinged energy that will keep him in the league.

McCain needs to be given primary ballhandling role in Vegas. I want to see what he can do running the squad.

I thought more on Dowtin and if there is any comparison to make with him, it would be Lou Williams. Lou really didn't come on until his mid/late 20's but even then he was a liability in playoffs for much the same reasons Dowtin would be.

Haven't seen anything from McCain thus far that changed my opinion on him one way or the other coming out of Duke. I preferred Collier or Knecht at 16, but wouldn't say I hated the McCain pick because I get the logic behind it.

I do think McCain has a lower ceiling than a guy like Collier and Knecht too even given his age. But he probably has a higher floor than Collier. I generally prefer bigger guys with a more impressive athletic profile.

The thing about McCain is I can't ever see him being a star player. Like, I don't think that is remotely in the cards for him. Getting a star at 16 in a bad draft was unlikely with any player you took, but for a guy like Collier and his raw ability, I do think he has that ceiling that McCain doesn't have, but it's probably unlikely he reaches it. The Sixers chose higher floor, lower ceiling, with shooting and floor spacing. I would've went the other way, but can't be mad about it(unless Collier or Knecht turn into superstars, then we can all do our 180s and trash the Sixers again lol).

The biggest concern I had with McCain though is for him to be an impactful player, he pretty much needs to shoot the lights out. If say McCain isn't hitting 3's at an extremely high rate, I just don't see what he'll bring to the table on the floor that you couldn't just get from other guards. Luckily, I do think he has that kind of touch and is capable of being a Seth Curry level shooter in the NBA.

I'm surprised Ben Detrick is stiil tweeting after the Ben Simmons debacle.

I'd drop Jones and give him our 2nd 2-way contract.
