You'd figure they'd make the cuts after the game.

Yeah, it's odd lol

They only announced the olympic roster which is limited to 12. For exhibitions, I imagine there are no rules for roster size - thus thats why USA side you saw some g-league players.

His form is busted lol.

RJ's FT shooting can be fixed. Good news from that game was it was the 2 Canadian Raptors that actually shot well, with KO going 4 for 5, and RJ, 3 for 6, and 2 for 3 from 3pt range.

You can see there are depth and size issues.

Wiggins, Mathurin & Edey would have helped for sure.

Hell, even Boucher and Miller would have been good for end of the bench size. They are both around 6'10" & can shoot 3's.

I can guarantee that when it matters, Shai ain't playing only 19 mins.

Yeah. Our starting lineup playing big minutes matters. Theirs doesn't.

This is it. When it matters, you're playing that starting lineup heavy minutes and Kelly and Lou Dort heavy minutes off the bench, and I'd probably go with spot minutes for Nembhard and Lyles as well. So, 9 guys but majority of minutes going to 7. The starters against their starters were competitive. Shai and Murray should be playing close to 35 minutes and one should be on the floor at all times and RJ and Brooks 30 minutes or so a piece.

I wouldn't read too much into this game.
SGA and Murray played under 20 min.

They still only lost by 14 points to "one of the greatest teams ever assembled" (according to the talking heads on ESPN)

They might have a point. AD, Bam, and Embiid as bigs. LBJ, Curry and KD can all play smaller rolls. Tatum, Booker etc. I'm not saying it's the best ever but damn they're tough.

was fun watching players being able to play good physical defense and the superstars not getting a million phantom calls

Kabengele actually looked decent lol.

Yep. Kabengele or Birch aren't expected to play much anyway, so I guess they just went with the guy with more experience for that spot.

It's great that they finally got Kabengele into the National Team system, though, something I've been wanting for a while, given our lack of depth at the big man spots.

Ya, Kabengele finally in the program will be huge. Dwight Powell is getting up there in age and there doesn't really seem to be decent young big men behind him.

The refs not falling for Embiid's BS was nice to see.

USA only outclassed Canada when their allstar bench was going up against Canada's bench .... -12, -12, -14, -14, -17 was the bench +/- while the starters were +1, +1, +2, -1, +1.

Against the US in a real game the starters will have to play 38+ minutes...guys like SGA and Murray are already used to playing 40+ minutes in the NBA so it's not a problem.

Four years from now I wouldn't be surprised if Edey is the starting big and Kabengele is the backup (and he'll already be 31 by then). Maybe Leonard Miller would be able to play some small-ball 5 against some smaller teams as well.

After that, we'll just have to hope that either someone comes out of the woodwork, which sometimes happens with big men, or someone in the young group of guys like Jeremy Foumena, Michael Nwoko, Marial Akuentok, or Paul Osaruyi has an outlier development path. 2032 seems like a long way away, but as crazy as it sounds, even the young guys who will be the core of that team are probably already players who have been identified as top prospects.

Mathurin (and Sharpe) are recovering from injuries so it's a non-starter. Nothing you can do about that. They were never options in the first place.
