Do we know what number he's getting? This feels like the first time in a long time I'm gonna buy a basketball jersey

It's actually not. Let's not go down this path.Zumramania wrote:Him choosing to play for the USA after he wrote a letter to the French president and got the French citizenship to play for France is really...a KD-like cowardly move. I have to say that, although I like him.

I’m a bit concerned after the first exhibition game. He looks out of shape and he still isn’t really jumping. I wouldn’t mind if the staff told him to pull a Kawhi to be honest. We have real goals this year..

He needs to do what Kawhi did
He really lacks discipline and it's very concerning

I'm not going to get into the US or France thing, but I very much wish that Embiid would just bag the Olympics and concentrate on preparing for what shapes up to be the biggest season of his career so far.
We finally have a legitimate coach and a GM who is constructing a serious contending roster complimenting his game instead of being completely dependent on him, and all I can think is him tweaking his knee and it being another one of those "can he get healthy" seasons, or worse.

I’m with you on him pulling a Kawhi. The USA team will be fine with no Joel. I hope Daryl and Josh at least talk to him about it.

If he was in shape I would feel a little more comfortable with him going through with it but he's clearly not and he hasn't played basketball since April. No excuse why he couldn't drop at least 10-15 pounds by now.
I'm curious to know as to what his diet is like and how he trains.

I actually prefer Joel playing for Team USA because it will help him get in condition. It seems clear that Joel only maintains his cardio fitness by playing basketball so he might as well be doing it with an elite group of players & a top flight training staff.

What?? You're overthinking and analyzing this. Joel is learning a different style, learning international competition, learning how to win with other great players, possibly winning gold. This is a can't miss golden opportunity for him as a player.

Hopefully this just takes grifting out of his game.

This is an excellent point - I stand corrected.

Why is he starting over AD when he is clearly out of shape?

Re: Joel: unchained.
AD works better next to Bam in the second lineup anyway. Think the idea was to bludgeon teams with biid and bron and then fastbreak them to death with the second lineup.

Embiid Lebron
AD and Bam
Off bench works don't change it

If he wasn't as injury prone then yea I wouldn't mind it. It's too big of a risk for this team especially with this season coming up.
I disagree with him maintaining his cardio fitness by playing basketball. He reaches for his knees within the first few minutes of games throughout the several seasons I have seen him play. He is still the last person down the floor on just about every possession and then he stops at the 3pt line. Just imagine how effective he would be if he actually rim ran. Yet he has still managed to be a top 10 player for many seasons in the regular season.
There is no excuse for him to be out of shape right now. It's a lack of discipline on his end a d there is no excuse for it.
