You don’t need to feed him inefficient post touches. Even shot a couple of 3s last night. Makes Edey look like a cave man in comparison.
Clingan looks super good defensively, but you don't have to wear your agenda on your sleeve so much. "leaves the scoring to the guards" ie, he cant score. He's been very inefficient this whole week so far.
They both have looked good in what we have seen so far in summer league. Hopefully Edey gets to play more before it ends.
Teams don’t want their bigs scoring in this league unless they are Jokic or Embiid. It is actually a detriment to the teams offense to have to feed a post player who only takes 2s.
Yes and No.
If you just give the ball to Al Jefferson 20+ times per game in the post? Bad Offense.
If you are spamming P&R with Ja Morant or Desmond Bane as the ball-handler and Edey is crushing opponents with screens and forcing switches because he is so big and then posting up a smaller wing or guard? That's very efficient offense.
So yeah, if anyone thinks Memphis is running their offense around Edey a-la Al Jefferson--that isn't happening and would be bad offense.
If Edey is simply "a weapon" to be utilized when the mismatches occur naturally within the offensive flow and within offensive sets and play design--that would be good offense.
