Depends on what you're looking for in exchange

Let's say a starter/rotational piece is coming back in return.

I mean, I'd trade him for Herro and a pick. Could even be permanently lottery protected

I think you misunderstood the question.
It’s how many picks will it cost UTAH to move off Collins’?
He’s at a number that is far beyond any potential value and nobody is just going to absorb that without compensation.

Sorry, I misspoke. I want a pick from Utah. Hell, I'd make the trade for a couple of seconds. I just want to move off of Herro

Re: Moving John Collins
a couple of Bulls' options no need to include picks just take back somebody.
pretty much straight up find one of the teams that needs a center MEM, SAC etc get what you find acceptable from them send Collins to the Bulls and team 3 takes Nikola Vucevic.
Send Collins to the Bulls find a third team to take Zach Lavine, have the Jazz and team 3 move around a bunch of unwanted contracts
Every team is bucking up against some tax threshold, that's the blending of old contracts and the new CBA. Teams can't make contracts or players just disappear so the days of making some tanking team a dumping ground for money are gone because bad teams don't want to pay a tax when they're losing

You guys have the same problem with Herro that Utah has with Collins and we had with Barnes. They are very much rotational players and can be a starter in a team (like where they are) that has no other option at their positions.
But ultimately they are overpaid for what they are and you really want them coming off the bench so you can optimize their occasional performance and not suffer from thermoelectric inconsistency or lack of abilities as a full time starter.

Re: Moving John Collins
I don't think it is worth any assets for Utah to move Collins. They are well below the salary floor and they have to pay somebody. He'll continue to be a great tank commander for them. Then next year he'll be good salary filler for a bigger trade if they can find a deal.

Re: Moving John Collins
There are Cavs fans who would move Niang and an expiring LeVert for him. I'm not one of them.
I think that Kessler, Collins, + for Ingram is the move if the Jazz no longer want tank.

Re: Moving John Collins
Jazz have zero reason to give up draft assets to move him.
I would not mind bundling him with a couple seconds for Herro though if Miami was interested.

"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Re: Moving John Collins
I think Ingram is an interesting option for the Jazz. Sort of a record scratch reversal in direction, but I would not be surprised that Ainge would pull the trigger on Ingram if he thought he was paying cents on the dollar.

With Ingram, it’s not about acquiring him, it’s giving him a max extension. Is Utah ready to do that?

Why would we want to attach assets to Collins to move him? When we had the 29th pick in the draft that made some sense, but I think he just stays unless a team gas equally bad money. Can't imagine attaching assets to get a rotation player, we want to suck this year and next so as to not convey our pick and hopefully get a franchise player.

I'd happily trade Niang and Lavert for Herro

Re: Moving John Collins
I think Collins + 3 SRP for Herro is a great deal for both sides. The spacing Collins brings to MIA would really be a godsend IMO.

The Jazz should move him just because they need to not play him any minutes to rebuild Kessler's trade value.
If Hardy is willing to bench Collins and play him no minutes, that's fine, but Hardy is a really terrible coach and would be way too afraid to do that.
