You can be happy for your team and still acknowledge this was a completely asinine move by Brunson with a legit chance to blow up in his face.

He’s making a helluva lot more than he was on his last contract and is giving his team room to build a team around him, which includes his college teammates. I’m sure it’s not an asinine move to him. Not everything is about money, especially when you’re already making generational money plus endorsements being the face of the New York Knicks.

I just don't understand people that are criticizing him for taking "less money". If you dont have enough money with 300 freaking millions at 35 years old you have a real problem with life (and he will have a lot more than that).

He seems like a smart dude. He probably has enough money with his first contract for him, his children, grand children.

It's pretty refreshing seeing a player seem so invested in playing good basketball on the court and helping the team that trusted him and made him a multi million dollar Guy improve the roster.

how this most likely plays out is that brunson takes $37 mil less for 3 years (so $12 mil less so the knicks can do some cap maneuvering) then opts out after year 3 and gets the full max.

What some of these "gotta get yo bag" evangelists forget is Brunson is also being compensated with all kinds of things the team uses that have nothing to do with his contract.
