Sharpe was hurt much of this past year and faded after after a strong start.

That's revisionist history. He shot 43% from the field in 4 October games, 40% in November, 41% in December, and 38% in January.

He was taking a lot of shots and playing a ton of minutes. He didn't come close to league average efficiency in any month.

He's a young player with raw talent that's very rough around the edges, just like Ivey. He hasn't shown anything different.

It's not actually a comment on Sharpe, but more the framing of Ivey from Blazers fans when these 2 are in the same exact boat. Shown big flashes but ups and downs. Streaky shooting, poor defense, bad turnovers.

Yet somehow Blazers fans in this thread are like " yeah, Pistons can send us this 'probable bust' Jaden Ivey." I just wanted to see if the OP was consistent with it.

Portland is under the tax line and has no reason to make any forced trades.

They can stand pat this summer and play out the season, knowing both Simons
and Ayton will be expiring contracts the following season.

Listen to trade discussions if it makes some sense but there is no need to make three
trades to clear guys off their roster, just to clear PT for guys who haven't earned it.

Honestly, I don’t want Ivey, and it has nothing to do with whether or not he qualifies as a bust. The team needs to figure out if Scoot and Sharpe are foundational players or even worth keeping and another young guard would just muddy the waters further.

I would prefer a move for a frontcourt player the team might want to keep.

You will probably not find a Blazer fan that likes Simons less than I do. After a decade plus of undersized, offense only guards I am ready for guards with a more complete game.

There are only a few teams that might be willing to make a move for Simons; teams with a stout defense and playmaking to cover his weaknesses, and a deficiency in the one thing he does well; solid 3 point shooting on high volume and self creation.

Last year, I thought TOR might be a fit until they moved OG and Siakam. More recently I thought ORL might be a fit with a solid defense and trash shooting.

This is honestly the first post I’ve seen proposing an Ivey to the blazers trade. I don’t think he makes any sense as a target whether he’s promising or not when the putative backcourt of the future is scoot and sharpe.

I don’t think many Blazers fans are falling all over themselves to try and steal Ivey.
