How you treat your high-level players matter, the Clippers lost Paul George for nothing in FA because of how they handled and treated Blake Griffin. Even though the Clippers agreed on years and money with George, he wanted to stay with the Clippers his whole contract and the Clippers would only verbally say they would keep him as in him retiring with the Clippers, they wouldn't put it a legal document. So, when you have options, one option may be not to sign with a team who has proven to be very disloyal to a top tier player. George doing this and it bringing to light what LAC did to Blake, it may alter another higher-level player's decision on going to or staying with the Clippers if they have options.
