That’s beyond terrible for the Rockets.
There’s absolutely no chance of anything close to that happening.

Not if you don't pay Green. :D Just look at it as a Poeltl salary dump which I know its hard to do with the sunk cost, but isn't likely far from his value.

It feels like the kind of offensive swing Toronto should take. Poeltl is no major loss, but they might find a needed scorer. And its no risk because they can just let him walk if he doesn't pan out.

I don't really see much downside for Toronto here at all.

Brooks' 21M on the books is not worth it. Pretty sure he wont take well to coming off the bench too

I would pass from the standpoint of not having interest in Ingram at the money he’s going to make. Rather have Brooks be a role player at 20 million and give one of the younger guys (Eason, Thompson, Whimore) a chance to surpass him.

Ingram is really meh.

Unless you could lock him up for under 100m, I'm completely out on him.

It’s really hard to trade for him unless you think he’s a max player, and apparently the entire league doesn’t think so otherwise he would have already been moved. $30-40M per year for 4 years? Sure. $50M per? Pass.

Even 30 is too high for me.

If I am trying to complete, which means multiple high paid guys on the team, I couldn't justify for more than like 25m.

The way Ingram is discussed on here you'd think he was Harrison Barnes with a 36 million dollar salary

I think the problem is he's going be Ingram with a $50M salary.

I keep seeing this take as well but if no one offers him 50 million, its not like he's going to retire from basketball.

If the market dictates that the most he's worth is 35-40 million and thats all he gets offered, thats what he will get. The teams with cap space next season are all in a tanking/rebuilding phase so its in his best interest to take what he can get from whoever has his bird rights.

Ingram is Zach Lavine waiting to happen.

The problem is it only takes one team to decide they're done tanking after the 25 draft to force the issue. Also, his agent is a zero sum guy. If getting to a good team is important to Ingram, he'll work with potential trade partners on an extend and trade for a number between 20-25% of the cap. If getting a max deal is what's important, he won't.

The other problem is that the team's that might be okay with Ingram just walking, e.g. the Warriors, don't have a center to offer. The Nets have Sharpe and Simmons, but that's a nuetral value package at best. The Heat could attach Ware to Herro, but the Pelicans would have to move CJ.

I'd counter that Lavine is the exact reason Ingram won't get 50 million

The new CBA rules make it harder to inconsequentially spend. Ingram's camp are already looking around the market to find a suitor but there have been no rumors of teams being willing to trade for and pay him that kind of contract. Players and agents can want whatever they want but someone actually has to make that offer for him to be able to take it.

The second apron drawbacks have made teams far less willing to overpay guys on long term deals. Maybe he gets a 2 year ballooned deal as a FA, but I'm not seeing a full 4 year max from any of the teams with cap space.

How about just Brooks for Brown + one second? that's the guy Toronto wants no? Houston gets out of Brooks contract earlier (and especially if it's after next season that's actually pretty useful for them.) Toronto gets a Canadian and at least somewhat more reliable off ball guy that's easier to fit into a rotation.

I don't think Houston's interested in the Ingram business right now, you do realize if they are interested they could just be that team that offer him the deal next summer anyway (they're one of the few teams that have cap space next year. ), if you trade for him you inherently gave him the leverage to some degree, if really no one wants to bid big for Ingram and Houston is the team sitting with the cap next year that works out much better for them.

Lol no. I want nothing to do with Ingram. I certainly do not want to trade Green and Brooks for him. And we have to give up a first on top of that? For Ingram?
