copying my quick thoughts from the off season thread:

I watched the first quarter just to see how some of these guys looked. And it was... pretty brutal and sloppy lol. Family took control of the TV after that!

Whitehead... oof not so great. But it's just a game, let's wait until week 10 of the regular season before we make any major predictions. Coming off a big surgery and missed season will take some time. Needs to shake off the butterflies and major rust. Keep giving him minutes!

Clowney and Wilson though will be getting some serious minutes. Keon Johnson will be a fun reclamation project for Fernandez too.

I actually started watching it late 2nd quarter. Whitehead has to do better, in both decisions and shot making. He went 1-11. Hopefully it was just jitters and getting readjusted to being back out there in a semi meaningful game. I don't know much about his injury from last season. I read it was Shin related, maybe shin splints from over training which are supposed to be very painful.

Based on highlights seems like mostly positive developments. Jalen Wilson continues to just look like a solid player. Jared Dudley-ish but hopefully better.

Clowney and Whitehead defense sounds like it got better. Hopefully we see 1 or 2 big offensive games out of Whitehead.

Johnson’s athleticism and effort always stand out, he should be an energy bench guy.

With watford, sharpe, and camt there is some solid 23 & under talent present.

Still think there may be room to explore adding an okoro type. Seems to fit the vibe jordi is trying to establish and I can’t imagine he adds enough to keep them out of bottom 4.

Sucks they have no young on ball facilitator talent to develop, beyond picks that’s probably what I’d be looking for in return for dfs or camj.

Rough start brutal shooting, nothing going in.

Sean Marks just joined the broadcasters. He spoke about the Long Island Nets said good things about Clowney and Jalen. Also spoke about teams figuring out the aprons and how it is going to be a few years for us to get back into being contenders. We are under the cap by design but Joe Tsai has shown that he will spend and pay the luxury tax again when the time is right.

Another come from behind win. We were down as many as 18 in the first.

The good the bad and the ugly

The good ...Jalen Wilson did a fantastic job on both ends. I was impressed by his defense tonight. He gets today game ball. Our defense was also really good tonight. We did miss a few rotations that let the knick get a clean look, but when we turned it on the pressure it turned everything around. Credit to Steve Hetzel. Martin also played well, shot well and made good decisions.

The Bad......In all three games so far, we have been behind big time and have had to crawl back. Luckily we won 2. We had I think 4 or 5 player that got no burn.

The ugly....and I hate to say it but Whitehead was horrific again. He couldn't hit the side of a mountain. 0-10

The good….. at least we didn’t spend a #2 pick on a guy who went 0/15 tonight and 8/41 in his 3 games

Wilson, KJ and Noah have been good.

Dariq not so much, but for him this is about just being out on the court and getting his body/shape back.

He has 3 months before training camp and we are tanking so he has room for error/growth.

Yeah another hit for Marks and co.

Very well balanced player with high IQ.

Not a super athlete, but you don't need to be as long as you are smart.

Kid will definitely be part of the rotation next season.

So is the prediction that Wilson, Clowney, and KJ get minutes off the bench this year? And Whitehead probably spends the season in Long Island?

yes - except id guess 1 of wilson/clowney ends up forcing their way into the starting lineup, maybe as early as game 1. both can play D and spread floor. if both DFS/CamJ get traded it's possible both start but that's probably down the road in the season not day 1.

Jalen Wilson is the Summer League MVP. Last one was Cam Thomas.

This is legitimately his last time playing for summer league. He’s going to definitely get a major role.

Congrats to Jalen Wilson, really encouraging . I've said it since we drafted him, he's going to be a player and he makes winning plays. He's just that kind of player, hope he's here for the long run.
