Mt Rushmore of guards

Post#1 » by One_and_Done » Sun Jul 14, 2024 4:46 am

If you were building a team around a player in today's league, which guards would be the top 4 choices to build around?

Assume you get the player for their whole career.

NB: this is not about them all playing on the same team.

I wouldn't take them over any of these guys, including Harden and Ant.

Jordan, Magic, Kobe, and probably Curry. No need to try and bet on other players having health or longevity when we know how many great seasons you can get out of these guys IMO

Thread title did not line up with the poll question and I noticed too late lol. I thought of it as greatest guards of all time, not who I'd build a team around. Some of those players are still way too young to know how great they can be.

If you ask Kel’el Ware, he'd say "Magic Johnson, Bob Cousy, SGA, and Josh Richardson."

this is an atrocious list as it leaves off west, cousy, and oscar

btw,,,mt rushmore was hammered out in 1940's at least over a dozen years in the making, and if you haven't noticed no one has been added since it's completion. do you know why?,,,,BECAUSE IT'S MT RUSHMORE!!

and no one is changing the presidents' face on the $1, $5, or $10 either

it should be cousy,,,west,,,oscar,,,magic,,,mj

ant harden etal can be subway tokens though

Jerry West and Oscar Robinson would probably belong on an actual Rushmore. And then MJ of course, and probably Dennis Scott.

Maybe Jordan.

Your thread title is completely disparate of your poll content. Mt Rushmore is a tribute to great careers, not a hypothetical What If Jerry West were born in 2004 monument.

Although it perhaps could be re-routed to a more interesting political thread: Which of our great American Presidents would have been best fit to run our country today? (Note: please don't answer here, Abraham Lincoln forgiving school debt or Andrew Johnson conquering the world through fire and fury are for the CA board)

Those guys wouldn't even be top 4 guards today.

Ah, another case of "name thread one thing, poll something else".

Anyway, out of those options, give me MJ, Magic, Kobe or Steph.
