I'm glad he wasn't killed.
But I really did laugh when he was refusing to leave the stage quickly with all the SS agents bear hugging him to get off. And then him pumping his fist for the photo op. He is so unserious. I hate that he's funny.
The utter stupidity of Trump, him trying to get the photo op could have cost him his life and endanger further the people around him.

Fist pumping and asking for his shoes could just as easily be characterized as symptoms of shock, not completely unlike him, but also not recognizing the immediate circumstances. MAGA will of course turn it into some sort of superhuman heroism. Hard to escape that it’s comedy. Bleak, dark comedy. If I’m gonna have a comedian for president, I’d prefer Pat Paulson or Dick Gregory.
Remember how Trump acted when he got Covid? He did a victory lap around Walter Reed campus in a closed car without a mask to mix it up with his supporters. His Secret Service detail just had to accept the risk. Then the doctor sent him home to rest at the White House, and the first thing he did was stand like a statue of Mussolini on the south balcony for a really long time for the photo op.

The path is still there- given that Wisconsin, Michigan, and PA are all within the margin of error of the polls. The Dems did do well in 2022. But still a long way to go in the election cycle. Certainly feels like Trump has the momentum but I'm also questioning the inevitably of people declaring the election over. I think people would rather have the certainty of what's going to happen, even if it is the worst possible scenario, rather than the uncertainty that we still don't know what's going to happen.

The polling, he is behind in every swing state he won in 2020, the current map has him losing in a landslide

My intention is not to make that argument. My intention is to point out that the exact same argument has been made when it comes to Gabby Giffords, Charlottesville 2017, and many other examples. Do you really think if the roles were reversed, that everyone would just accept that the sitting president said that it was time to put his opponent "in the bullseye" as mere political showmanship?
I would actually argue that is is political rhetoric and not incitement to violence. I just don't believe that most would see it that when when "the other guy" says it.

Yeah sure. I mean I wasn't offended at all when Trump said he could shoot someone in broad daylight and not lose a vote or whatever he said, I didn't take it as a threat or as a literal statement
Like this is why I never delve into politics, people know what a figure of speech is but they'll disregard it if it helps their "side"

The polls are well within the margin of error for Biden and the election is 4 months away. So you believe Biden will lose every swing state? Even the ones with Democratic Governors and Senators? Like most people you’re interpreting the polls incorrectly and no one can predict 4 months out what will happen.

A tale in two posts:
Democrats have been nothing but gracious to Trump almost getting assassinated, we would not see the same thing from Republicans if this had happened to Biden.

So far we've learned the shooter* is a republican. He might be a Biden supporter. Might not be though. Apparently the right wing has been riling up the base to go kill pedophiles and who knows maybe the perpetrator decided to follow through on those words. According to this article, Trump took the Epstein private jet 7 times as per evidence released from the Ghislaine Maxwell Trial that was released recently.

And apparently people are putting "shoot a pedo" on their bumper stickers throughout the country.

Meanwhile the right wing like Alex Jones and Nick Fuentes have been going after Trump- not openly supporting project 2025 or it was because of what was revealed in the Epstein papers about Trump raping a child alongside Jeffrey Epstein. Fuentes went as far to say that no one would even care if Trump died.

Article from 2023 showing the rise of violence since 2016
https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/usa-politics-violence/
https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/usa-politics-violence/
Incidents of political violence began rising in 2016, around the time of Trump’s first run for the presidency, said Gary LaFree, a University of Maryland criminologist who has tracked such violence in a terrorism database between 1970 and 2020.
Political violence surged for nearly a decade starting in the late-1960s – 1970 alone saw more than 450 cases, LaFree said. But it had become relatively rare by 1980. There were a few spikes in the 1990s, including the 1995 Oklahoma City federal building bombing that killed 168 people, in what the Federal Bureau of Investigation describes as the nation’s worst act of homegrown terrorism. Political violence started to climb again in 2016, LaFree added, and “it doesn’t seem like we’ve hit the top of the wave yet.”
This wave differs in both its aims and its means.
In the early 1970s, American political violence was perpetrated more often by radicals on the left and focused largely on destroying property, such as government buildings, said Rachel Kleinfeld, who studies political conflict and extremism at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a Washington think tank. “There were many, many bombings, but usually at night, or after called-in warnings,” she said. “The goal was not to kill people; it was to affect decisions” by policymakers.
In contrast, much of today’s political violence is aimed at people – and most of the deadly outbursts tracked by Reuters have come from the right. Of the 14 fatal political attacks since the Capitol riot in which the perpetrator or suspect had a clear partisan leaning, 13 were right-wing assailants. One was on the left.
The recent violence coming from the right, Carnegie’s Kleinfeld said, “is focused on stopping people or ending people’s lives.”

I think we should start a pool. My money's on "closeted gay who grew up in a redpilled Trump supporter's house"
So he's a registered Republican but secretly a closeted Dem
