Lauri’s contract makes this a silly discussion.

Why?

It would be hard for me to look at the Jazz roster sans him, and think he's grappling with trying to stay on the franchise that constantly has him name bandied about in conjecture over the current Kings with him. I'm not sure if there if there would be any geographical issues that he would need to stay in Utah, but maybe he likes it there? Maybe he does want to be traded elsewhere though

I'm not sure I see much in that interview thats really official from Cunningham though

Because he likes Utah.

The OP sounded like a dig to Sacramento. If he likes Utah and has a sense of loyalty, respect to him, I think its admirable for players who want to turn franchises around. Though, wouldnt the constant assessment of value publicly annoy the average baller? I'm trying to think if that would erode my loyalty. Has he affirmed this lately after the latest rumors?

I think you are reading too much into it if you think it was a dig at Sacramento. Lauri seems to like the outdoors and winter sports, no better place than Utah in the US for that. RE Lauri, it's constant speculation that he will or might be moved, in no way does that mean it is (or is not) coming from Utah.

Lmao.

So are we just gonna make stuff up now? Now some other poster will read this and start posting it in every thread on the board like it came from a reputable source.

Please provide a link to this info "from his camp."

Sean Cunningham. Sac reporter. He has said it at least twice in pods recently.

lol. Ya’ll think I’m just making stuff up to be large on a message board?

My bad. Sounds like you're just repeating stuff that somebody else just made up, or you misunderstood something this reporter said. Either way, if there's any truth to it, it would be all over NBA news instead of just coming out from some reporter in Sacramento.

lol.

When was the last time Utah was “all over NBA news” when the team was bad and it is the middle of summer?

Sorry. Your boy isn’t worth what Danny wants given his contract and word his team is putting out. Sucks. But…reality. If Danny could get what he wants, the deal would be done.

Isn't it pretty simple?

Only the Jazz can renegotiate and extend him right? Or a team with significant cap space. Kings don't have that. So he stands to lose a bunch of money by extending early with Sac. Same as Siakam who waited until FA with Indiana.

The Kings may have had it before DeRozan if the Jazz took salaries with their cap? I’d have to look it up - when the Kings made the picks offer

I have a hard time seeing Markkanen as a target for the Kings anymore. A frontcourt of DeRozan-Markkanen-Sabonis is sooo lackluster defensively. I don’t know how we could expect to go deep into the playoffs knowing teams could exploit it fairly easily.

I'd rather have Murray and the picks. Especially with the kings' defensive wings.

Markkanen will be eligible to renegotiate his contract on August 6, which becomes a very tangible trade deadline for the Jazz. Don't think Ainge wants to renegotiate his contract. This is what all the other teams are waiting on. To see what happens.

Why not? I think this would be a fantastic outcome for the Jazz.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Even if Lauri was resigned I wouldn’t trade Murray to get him
