(Just FYI I knew nothing about Knecht before the draft)
Based on the Magic's roster construction... TDS.
But that's not a knock on Knecht either as I think he'll be a contributor too.
Yeah.. no senae getting another guard when the queue is backed up already. Also, while i was high on Knecht in college? In the back of my.mind i always wondered how he would do against regular NBA guards that are just faster stronger and even taller than him.
He is getting q taste of it in SL. Knowing that in regular games its gonna even be more brutal

He's coming off a game where he led the team in plus minus, scored 20 points on 9 shots, and had 4 steals. He's showing the package that made him the #6 pick, I doubt anyone is disappointed in his performance so far.RookieStar wrote:eyriq wrote:6 assists to 3 turnovers, clutch time baskets and defense. Performance no... was hoping it was just consistent. Cant really impress that much in the 1st game and all.of a sudden fade away in the 2nd.
Was just hoping he showed on the 2nd gane what he showed in the 1st

Point guards almost always need three years to figure it out. It’s the one position where it’s rare to have anyone do better than that. AB may take 4 because he has so much to work on offensively, but that depends on how much he develops this year.
They also seem to really, really be taking the slow approach with Howard, which they can since he is only 20. It will be incredibly worrisome if he is not at least the backup SG the season after next.
This far this summer league has shown progress on both AB and Jett and a clear path to the backup SF role for Da Silva. Based on their ages and skill sets, that’s kinda perfect.

I'm not disappointed in his performance. I am disappointed in his PG play though. He can make good reads in the flow of the offense but it doesn't appear as though he can do the same when running plays as the lead guard.

Here is a 20 year PG doing the things you want a PG doing:
It's not just about the shot... which is great btw... but it's about keeping the dibble alive, maneuvering in space, and making plays for others.

Why exactly would we need to question that? We have both. Plus, Franz has proven to be a starter in the NBA, we don’t know what Tristian can do yet.

Re: 2024 NBA Summer League Game 2: Orlando Magic (1-0) v. New Orleans Pelicans (0-1) - 7:30pm ET on NBA TV/ESPN+
Summer League stats are irrelevant to me.
You're talking about a 2 game sample size so far, so there can be wild fluctuations in FG% and 3PT% as well as turnovers and fouls.
I'm looking more at how guys are playing and how they're accumulating their stats more than the stats themselves.
I haven't seen the kind of consistently confident dribbling from Black that would lead me to believe he's ready to be on the basketball full time against NBA defenders without it being a massive struggle. He still does not seem very natural as a point guard still.
Jett has made shots, which is obviously better than missing shots, but he's the kind of shots he's been taking are shots that I don't think the team is going to want him to take when he's playing with the big boys. These constant 0-1 dribble pull up threes early in the shot clock aren't really shots he's gonna get.
That's another reason why I don't put much stock at all (none really) into Jett's G-League stats either. Jett had a 25 USG% in his 35 G-League games last year. A level of shot attempts and on ball reps that he'll almost certainly not replicate in the NBA any time soon.
How valuable is it really to stick the basketball in player's hands and let him do a bunch of stuff you're not actually going to ever ask him to do when he's playing off Paolo and Franz?
And like... I get it. There's no Paolo and no Franz in these Summer League games. It's hard to replicate the kind of reps Jett is going to get in the NBA in a loosey goosey setting like the Summer League when there's no actual players with gravity like there will be once it becomes NBA games.
Just my opinion, but what we've seen from da Silva so far translates the most directly to what he'll be asked to do three months from now.

Magic get two days off now and don't play again until Wednesday and then a back-to-back on Thursday.

Is it just me or does Jett have an old looking shot? It’s even stranger off the dibble.
