Better than Mikal Bridges in 3 years

Just imagine how good he can be if his follow thru is pointing at the rim and not at the window at the right

Think part of that is angle of where the video is being taken from, but yeah you've got a point.

Im just kidding. Its the angle

I hate to say this so prematurely but I'm not a fan of the McCain pick. But I also didn't know much about the prospects this draft so there's also that.

I see McCain more as a backup for when Maxey is not playing or is on the bench. While it's always good to have a strong backup, I'd be more comfortable if that player had a chance to be a starter, like Daron Holmes, Knecht or Terrence Shannon.

Gary Trent Jr is 6'5 with a 6'9 wingspan
Norman Powell is 6'5 with a 6'11 wingspan
Jared McCain is 6'2 with a 6'3 wingspan

McCain is not comparable to those two players. He's more comparable to:

Seth Curry 6'2 with a 6'3 wingspan
Fred Van Fleet 6'2 with a 6'4 wingspan

The difference being Seth Curry, Fred Van Fleet, Damon Lillard (6'8 wing) and CJ McCollum (6'6 wing) ALL played 4 years of college ball and came into the league crafty enough to survive. McCain better get crafty quick or he isn't going to play.

Agree. The three 'no-brainer' picks for me going in were Sheppard, Knecht, and Devin Carter.

The only ready made prospects that was drafted after McCain that looks clearly better at this stage is Terrence Shannon, who I think probably could have played and contributed this upcoming season for us.

Shannon has had a 25 point game on 14 shots with a steal and two blocks and last night and had 19 on 11 shots with two steals and three blocks the other day.

He looks like ready made wing offense and high level defending as expected. But you'd sorta have to expect that at his age I guess.

Tyson has been steady. Knecht had a big shooting night and an uneventful first few outings. DaRon Holmes looked exceptional, but then he blew his achilles. Walter hasn't been good. da Silva had an impressive outing last night, but more-or-less has just been okay like Tyson.

Ware and Carrington have been super solid, a lot of us really liked them as well but they went a pick and two picks before we selected.

I expect McCain to be eventual trade bait anyways so I'm not reading too into this, but he was a high(er) upside swing that has shown some decent tools so far. Also he's been a little unfortunate with his shooting luck so far. Could very easily see him buck trend and have a big scoring night before Summer League wraps up.

I'm not a fan of McCain. I was calling for Knecht, Terrence Shannon or Jaylon Tyson at our spot. However, I don't believe McCain's recent struggles are due to his short wingspan. From what I've observed, he has been getting clean looks and successfully getting to the rim while using his body effectively finish a lot of his shots.

His shots are just off, and I'm guessing it's due to fatigue since he's even missing free throws, which is typically a strength of his.

If McCain's wingspan poses a challenge, it would be on man to man defense, but since we’re playing heavy zone defense it would then be hard to see if this would be an issue for now.

Based on my eye test, Jared McCain's short wingspan doesn't seem to limit his offensive capabilities. He’s also been an OK defender and rebounder with our zone defense.

I thought McCain has played fine besides the shots not going in.

I wasn’t really counting on him being NBA ready though. Hopefully he shows some good signs the second half of the year.

I never said his struggles were due to his short wingspan. I honestly don't care how a player shoots in Summer League. I care about how prospects look physically against other prospects. I bring up wingspan because you were comparing him to players who he can't compare to physically.

McCain is an outlier physically. His limitations give him very little chance of being a plus defender. He's clearly not a PG, even at that small size. So, his pathway to staying in the league is totally dependent on whether he can shoot like Seth Curry, one of the All-time leaders in 3 pt percentage. That, in my opinion is trying to "thread a needle" on a prospect.

Yeah, Sheppard seems like a guaranteed 50/40/90 guy in his prime with awesome defensive instincts. He probably should’ve gone #1 in the draft.

I honestly have no idea what to think of McCain. He wasn’t one of my favorites heading into the draft but I was won over by the post-draft analysis of his game & character.

At least we have a pretty good guard rotation (and hopefully gets better with Trent) so he can spend a year developing in the G League.

Furphy looking good despite playing the same off ball role. He would have actually be a real nice pick for us given our team's current makeup.

Will likely be a top 20 player by his rookie extension.

Teams got spooked by size. His stats were otherworldly, especially his defensive numbers. Knew he'd be guaranteed good, but he's already looking way better than I expected.

I feel like not enough people factored in that Sheppard was paying the Coach Cal tax all year. I wonder how much money he cost guys in rookie compensation by being such a bad coach lol.

Well. I threw **** when we passed on Knecht. I was beyond angry. I like McCain, I'll support the pick and hope for the best. I just didn't know if you were being serious or not, but yeah man...I respect that.
