Re: Summer league 2024 thread
After two Summer league games here are a couple of predictions I currently have for next season:
1. Shannon will end up playing the 8th most minutes for the Wolves
2. Nix will play over 500 minutes (more minutes than Minott, Miller, or Clark)

Clark is the wild card. If he developed a corner 3 he will be promoted to main roster and be a rotation player. I am with you on TSJ, though he needs to be able to hit a corner 3.
Nix is looking good in SL, but won’t get any significant run in the NBA.

Re: Summer league 2024 thread
Dillingham shot creating, blow by ability and overall scoring looked kinda iffy, despite the hot start. That should be his calling card. But I was impressed with his playmaking this time, he looked like a real PG. Not just dumping off like in first game, but making good reads and passes to under the rim, finding guys on mismatches or early good looks.
Maybe they telling him to focus more on playmaking then scoring, cuz the latter is but slow going for him so far. He was good in transition and couple times gave up scoring to give his teammates easy buckets.
His defending and steals was better then I expected too, good effort despite the tiny stature. The Jaylen Clark energy robbed off on him.
I liked Minnot alot more this game then first one, he seemed more in control and able, excelling rebounding and showing some handles, hitting his rim attacks and forcing fouls well. He hit a deep 3 that suprised me.
But you guys are right this is not the role he will be asked of in main team so it's kinda moot. But it's better then first game, even if you expect more from 3rd year player.
Shannon can shoot, but it seems he just wanna abuse these SL players and showcase his near elite ability to attack close outs and draw fouls lol. Unlike most in this roster so far, he is genuinely able to create his own shot or force them to give him easy FTs. Anything that makes a defender 2nd guess himself when he is on corner is good, shows 3 level scorer ability if he shoots more 3s going forward.
Leonard Miller not worth mentioning, sometimes feel like he isn't out there. Just exists on the court. He isn't a center like he asked to be in SL, but atleast show something besides occasional rebound. He is supposed to be 3rd most talented in this SL roster after our 2 rookies (even if one is older), but looks least ready to get any minutes for main team.
Hifi ain't gonna make the team at all if he is gonna be this selfish. Has good hustle on D and is aggressive, but everything else felt like he negative player in impact. I liked Nix alot more then him. Very in control player, plays with purpose, decision making and effort on D. But needs to shoot better. Won't make the team at all imo, but like his style still.
Clark, pls for the love of God develop an acceptable 3. If you do, you will become a fan favourite rotational role piece l, all defensive team level talent and instincts with ease.

LOL at Memphis shhutting down Edey already.
Miller and Minott have been disappointing but at least not as bad as Prosper for dallas.

Well they did have some tape from the Utah summer league, and didn't he have an ankle issue?

Re: Summer league 2024 thread
I think Nix, Clark, TSJ, and Dilly all could contribute. That’s under the construct of 8-12 minutes at best with a few starters out there. But I do think a Dilly, NAW, TSJ, Ingles, Naz lineup wouldn’t give up a much if a lead against another teams second unit over a short stretch. It’s going to be interesting for sure.

I am not sure if I agree that Shannon creates his own shot. I think he generally needs angles to attack, but he can still score off the catch if the defense is set with a quick first step, the rocker step, and the little floater he has. I think he’s closer to Naz where he’s great at attacking the catch and the angles on his defense but doesn’t have the ability to go 1:1 iso

Agreed, thinking more of SL standard 1v1, he is the only one just blowing by, bulldozing or doing rocker step on defenders at will, to attack with purpose. It's not a true 1v1 iso as in grinding defender down with 3 level scoring dribbling with middies or step back 3s.
But his driving attacking ability off closeouts is really special to see. And his first step is deceptively quick enough that he attacks we'll enough even if they don't overcommit with the closeouts.
Generally his driving game is quite nice to see so far. But I wanna see more of his shooting game. Naz is good comp despite the positional difference, he makes quick decisions like Naz. Sees opening and goes for it, or gives ball up quick it he doesn't. But wanna see him shoot quick spot up shots ala Naz too.

I truly believes he does. I mean I agree with you that he is not NBA level ISO scorer with fancy dribbling and insane shooting ability who can create his shot out of nowhere. But Shannon is so quick, physical and decisive that he will find ways to score in NBA. In 99% situation it might be enough for him just to run in open corner, or execute backdoor cut, or jab step. Add here Gobert gravity and screens, Towns, Reid shooting , Edwards scoring and Shannon will have many opportunities to attack less talented defenders, or attack defense in spots where there is not much defensive pressure and attention.

Re: Summer league 2024 thread
Well would you look at that.
Charley Walters has reported that Taylor / the NBA may offer Seattle to Lore / ARod.
But I’m still worried they may move the Wolves to New York!

PS. They’re so broke the NBA wants to give them an expansion franchise.

NBA would never offer Seattle to Lore/Arod. They can't afford our franchise--how would they ever afford a new franchise?

"Reported"...He's spitballing.
It wouldn’t be surprising if the NBA, in an effort to avoid an arbitration hearing over Timberwolves-Lynx ownership with Glen Taylor, offers the Alex Rodriguez-Mark Lore tandem that initially agreed to buy the teams for $1.5 billion, first chance at an expansion team in Seattle, where Rodriguez was a popular player with the Mariners.

Nix, Minott, Miller, and Clark will only be garbage time NBA players. But quality 10-14 guys...along with Garza.
RD and TSJ will both be really good...and will contribute day 1.
Edwards intrigues me. Though probably nothing.

Edwards intrigues me too.
Seems to be in the right place at the right time as far as defensive positioning goes. He’s very long. His timing is good. He has really good hands. He finishes strong and from outside the circle.
