got Whitmore as the better player...We will see in a few years when both get fair amount of PT ...But 5 mins a game is a big difference in terms of an NBA Game ...If cam has 5 more mins on the court hes prolly at 15-17 PPG with higher percentages...

I would bet everything I have on the following:

-Dick will be the better player in terms of impact
-Dick will have a longer career
-Dick will make more money over his career

I have zero doubt about that. Cam Whitmore will probably have more 40 pt games though. That man can really score the ball. But the game is deeper than that.

Also, Masai and team are not fans of Jordan Poole type of players. There's a good chance Whitmore is just a microwave scorer who ends up on the bench a lot when teams are in high pressure situations.

What folks need to understand about players like Whitmore and the modern NBA in general is that one dimensional players aren’t very valuable in this league unless you are top 5 at that dimension (Gobert at defence for example). If you’re not that good at the one thing that you do there’s not really a consistent role for you in the league. You’ll be a bench player at best. This phenomenon is more pronounced for guys who make decisions with the ball like Cam Whitmore. Looking at Whitmore, he can really score the ball but he brings nothing else to the table at all. Doesn’t play defence. Doesn’t pass. Doesn’t rebound. Doesn’t have great size. Doesn’t make hustle plays. He just scores, and while he’s good at that, it’s not enough for him to play more than 15 mpg and the odd night where he plays 30 mins cuz he’s on a heater that day.

Yep no one said Whitmore will be a superstar level player though thats the thing...The argument is Dick vs Whitmore ....And who will be better or who is better now ....Which imo Whitmore right now looks like the better player to me....And hes a year younger than Dick ....Doesn't mean he will become a superstar but i think if i had to pick between Dick vs Whitmore im taking Whitmore if the draft was redone ...Id prolly take Hawkins over both but the argument is Cam vs Dick...

Its really a Moot argument because both players are so young in their careers and both players are on the same level in terms of skill level ....But its preference which player you like more Cam Vs Dick because they both have flaws in their games and have ways to go to get where you want them to be....

But its my personal preference that i would much rather have a 3 level scorer type who can develop the other aspects of their game than a 3 point shooter who can develop other aspects of the game....No ones right or wrong in the argument as well ...Time will tell who becomes better

I would agree that Whitmore is better right now. Definitely. I think by year four that Gradey laps him though.

Yep it will be fun to look back on in 5 years and we remember the thread of the Cam Vs Dick debate ....Im rooting for Dick as hes on the team i cheer for....And i hope Dick can get there...He needs to develop his off dribble shooting and his ball handling/attacking the basket game...If he can do that by year 5 i will agree that Dick becomes better than Cam....But if he never develops that part of his game it will be hard to be better than a player who arleady does that well ....If Cam adds a passing game + becomes a better defender...He will be better....

Dicks defense will always be his weak spot but if he can become a better shot creator that won't matter in the long run...

Buddy look around the summer league...You have tons and tons of the rookies putting together great games and some of the rookies stand out....Thats all im saying none of our young players had a game out the 2 that really stands out to me so far....

Those takeoff games don't mean much, really, in summer league. I mean it's not like we got the 1st pick or something, and we expect them to dominate. Jakobe was picked at 19. 3 of these guys are second rounders off the college and you want them to dominate?

I mean look at JFL he is closest there to be dominant, do we want him long term?

If anything, I think it's impressive that everyone played within the game plan and the team won. That means they are coachable.

I liked how at the end (and I am sure Jama was behind it) they really stifled Strawthers who missed his last few shots.

Perhaps Jama is being prepared to step in as a future head coach for the Raptors if the Darko plan doesn't work out. Great communicator and BBIQ along with a great resume and championship experience on the GSW.

Jamison Battle deserves a lot more love here.

He's been our most consistent player through two games.

You know what I found crazy...

Through 2021-2023 (3 seasons) - he was a 77% FT shooter (on 2.2 attempts per game)
Fast forward to his final season - he shot 93% from the FT line (on 2.7 attempts per game)

Now let's take a look at his 3pt%....

Through 2021-2023 (3 seasons) - he shot 34% from three (on 6.9 attempts per game)
Fast forward to his final season - he shot 43% from three (on 6 attempts per game)

This sort of improvement is indicative of an exceptional work ethic.
He's only 23 and I hope we retain him.

I love the confidence he shoots with and he seems to have good shot selection.
The good thing about BI is he can shoot over defenders.
The bad thing about BI is he can shoot over defenders.

Smart kid for sure.

I'd rather give him minutes than Vezenkov.

I’ve been most impressed with Battle. He reminds me a bit of Niang.
