Anyone want Austin Reeves for draft picks?

Post#1 » by jazzfan1971 » Mon Jul 15, 2024 12:33 pm

Just trying to see what sort of pick haul reeves could fetch.

There is a trade proposal further down.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Maybe Cleveland for a protected 31 1st or San Antonio for a protected 1st. I don’t see a lot of teams calling.

I think AingesBurner is actually jazzfan1971s burner

This makes no sense unless you got a deal lined up for a huge upgrade at guard

Dont really see many having that kind of intrest. He is an ok player but nothing more. Maybe they can land a lotto protected first. Nets for the bucks 1st they got from the knicks? But see no real reason for either side to do it. Lakers value reaves a lot higher then everyone else, so whatever they would get would be considered a bad return

Reaves is a good role player, but he's not an elite role player like Mikal Bridges or a real second option like Lauri, so he's not going to return a haul.

I think something like what Deni Avdija returned would be his ceiling (i.e., a mid-1st, a decent but not great future 1st, and a couple seconds)

I'm just asking because if LAL wants Lauri, they are probably trying to sell us on Reeves being worth a good amount as their other pieces are somewhat lacking.

So, I was curious what he could fetch in a 3 way deal with him going to a 3rd team and the Jazz collecting the picks from his trade.

Say could he get an expiring and a pick next year around the 10-20 range? (say it would be from a team expected in that range but have good protections for the top 4 picks)

So, something like...

Jazz trade
Lauri
Jazz get
Tre Jones
JHS
Removal of protections on 2027 1st to Jazz
2028 LAL swap(upt)
2029 LAL 1st (upt)
2030 LAL swap (upt)
2031 LAL 1st (upt)
2025 1st (second best of SAS, ATL, CHA, CHI) via spurs
2025 2nd (best of SAS, CHA, NOP) via SAS
2025 2nd (best of LAL, LAC) via LAL

Jazz turn Lauri into picks

LAL trade
Reeves
JHS
Removal of protection on 2027 1st
2028 swap
2029 1st
2030 swap
2031 1st
best of 2025 2nds

LAL get
Lauri

Why for LAL
Get Lauri

SAS trade
Jones
2025 1st (second best of SAS, ATL, CHA, CHI) via spurs
2025 2nd (best of SAS, CHA, NOP) via SAS

SAS get
Reeves

I don't see any team being willing to give up anything picks for mediocre role players who don't play any defense. Those days are over with.

There is a trade proposal further down.

Unless it’s top 3 we’re can land copper flag he’s not getting traded for picks but for lauri yes

What? You think he commands a top 3 pick?

Crappy draft and he’s good starter

Deni Avdija is a far better player than Austin Reaves. No team is giving anything close to what the Blazers give up for Deni in order to get Austin Reaves. At most, some team might give up a 2nd round pick for him if they're sending out a bad contract if they're lucky. He's mediocre at best role player who can't play defense and his offense doesn't make up for that.

Any GM who's considering giving up a pick inside the 10-20 range in any draft class, let alone the one as strong as next year's class for Austin should be fired on the spot. He's 15-20 minute per game player at most on any other team.

Yeah, I'm sure Spurs can't wait to pay a potential high lottery pick in a loaded draft for Austin Reaves, just so that Lakers get Lauri and Jazz get a haul. Typical wet dream proposal.

God no. Mavs dont have a thj on a bloated 3 year deal to fill with. Mavs 2nd huardd need to play good defense. Would probably have to be a top 20 protected rolling over to nothing

I'm surprised just how little value he has. I'm glad I found out before I tried moving him much more than I did. Seems like you'd be lucky to get a 2nd for him.

Reaves probably has the asking price of 3 picks for LAL. The price teams are actually willing to pay is probably closer to 1, maybe 2 1sts.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

Nnaji + Holmes for Reaves? He'd be a huge get for Denver but they don't have actual picks to trade.

This feels like a general problem as the teams with assets don't need him and the teams that need him don't have assets.

Are you talking about protected firsts? Even one unprotected seems very high for Reaves.
