Oh and will barton

What's the Bucks apron situation?

Is there any way they could do a S&T for him sending out Pat and another smaller salary like Marjon or something and giving GTJ a 3 year deal in the 10-13m range? Strictly from the cap/apron law standpoint.

Any sign and trade immediately initiates a hard cap so we want to avoid that. We basically have to give up an asset to dump say Pat’s contract to get us below the second apron so we can use the tpmle to sign someone like Trent. I don’t see Marjon as an asset and I don’t think our 2031 second round pick is enough of an asset to get it done. That leaves our 2031 first which is too much imo.

Trent is basically black Grayson, are people convincing themselves that he is more than that? On a minimu contract sure but I’m not giving anything up just to tpmle him

Yeah, I’m definitely not moving assets for the honor of giving him more money. 1 year, minimum contract stop gap signing to the (hopeful) mutual benefit of both parties.

Do people understand how valuable a "black Grayson" would be in the context of our current team? Do you understand that Grayson makes 15m per season (17, 18, and 19 the next three) and youre folding your arms at the thought of paying a better player like 6 or 7 million?

If you are convinced that all we need is defense at the 2, then we already have the guy. Its Wright. But Delon Wright as a starter and closer for us...does that make sense? He didnt do that on lesser teams and we have championship aspirations.

I would never trade our next available 1st to get Trent but certainly Pat, a 2nd and a youngster is a pretty easy deal to make if that can free up the necessary space.

I just have to assume that Trent has a multitude of options between all of the playoff contenders who still have plenty of room before hitting the 2nd apron. Or a team like Utah could just sign him now and flip him at the deadline when teams get more desperate.

Super valuable in the regular season and the first round of the playoffs but after that their shooting tanks and they can’t attack a closeout and their contract turns into a boat anchor. Just like Duncan Robinson, Joe Harris, etc. I’m sure if the easy deal to make had been acceptable for detroit we would’ve made it already

What are the chances Gary Trent Jr could really lock in on D and turn himself into a KCP type wing defender? Probably won’t ever reach that level but can he get close? KCP is 6’5” 200lbs w/ a 6’8” wingspan. GTJ is 6’5” 200lbs w/ a 6’9” wingspan. Is there any comparison to work with there besides their physical profiles are almost identical?

I think trent (no proof) but have read stuff rhat hes really intrigued with playing with dane agsin. His best years were with him.Plus not msny teams if any can offer him a starting gig in a lineup with giannis/midds and dame.
I do also think hes thinking what some of you have mentioned how msny insanely many open 3x hes going to have.He may want bsnk but taking less to start with this O has to be interesting to him

Id be surprised if Trent signed for the min but maybe he wants to bet on himself and aim for a bigger contract next year

If it ok for me to think that Trent would be a good player to have on the team, while at the same time not thinking he will guarantee a title?

Caboclo? Not sure if you're joking but I kind of love this idea. Bev w/ Dame worked, why not Bruno w/ Giannis?

I'm guessing Fernando. Don't really see the point in using the last roster spot on a Center right now though.

Whether it’s Trent or not seems like the Bucks’ starting lineup still has a leaky defense.

We need a great defender in btw Dame and Khris not a Grayson Allen level passable one.

Or maybe we pick up a defensive specialist that’s a switchable forward to fortify the perimeter and move Brook to the bench.

Either way as it stands we’d require a whole lot of Delon Wright and Taurean Prince if they’re the best defenders we acquire this offseason.

Yeah i dont think Trent is at alk similar to Joe Harris or Duncan Robinson.

But out of curiosity, what do you think is our best realistic option for starting/closing SG for round 2 of the playoffs and beyond?

Wright is that guy if all you care about is defense. And hes not a bum offensively, its just hes nowhere near a Trent.

I just think people dont really understand the landscape of SGs. When you get beyond the premier guys, getting a guy who is a great shooter but also plays passable defense is not easy. There are also not a lot of great defenders who dont stink on offense.

Can't believe I'm gonna defend Nick Nurse/Adrian Griffin, but Trent was a serviceable defender under those guys so I'm not really seeing the kind of "sieve" criticisms that guys like Joe Harris and Duncan Robinson deserve. Grayson level defender seems about right. Grayson was a solid defender who was saddled with this undeserved reputation of being garbage on that end based on one playoff series.

Caboclo played really well in getting Brazil through the qualifiers and Fernando is not AB's kind of player. Caboclo is really the exact kind of swing big we need, too. He's gotten a lot bigger. Thoroughly outplayed Vuc in a win against Montenegro in group play. Kind of doubt we could get him for the min, but if he wants to get back in the NBA, and we trade a big, he'd have a phenomenal opportunity here.

Precisely.

I know we all want a Derrick White or a Caruso.

Thats less likely than getting your wife to agree to a threesome. Best you can realistically hope for is some fantasy role play.

Thats Gary Trent jr.

Memphis could use the MLE or a trade exception to absorb Bobby if they’d incentivize us with another player swap (MarJon/Pat) or picks.

Edey is a rookie. Brandon Clarke is coming off a torn achilles.

They sure seem like a team who could use another big somehow.
