To be fair, these guys have played 5 games in 8 days.

I don't know how you guys do it, these games are virtually unwatchable. I don't see how any serious evaluation can be done with what are ragtag run 'n' gun scrimmages with mostly guys who will likely never see the big show.

McCain will probably end up being a roster player here or somewhere, but a munchkin whose primary value lies in his ability to take and make 3's was just a waste of the 16th pick, especially given the choices available.

You can't make a final judgment until he's with the big boys in camp, but an inability to really stand out among this dreck isn't the best sign.

No hate, just the reality that he doesn't belong stealing a spot to compete for an NBA roster spot from a more deserving player.

First minutes I’ve watched of this live, popped it on while eating a meal for a few minutes. I’ll go back and watch more later on the DVR but man McCain is a rough watch. Yeah it’s only summer league and all that but maybe his shooting woes also have something to do with the fact that it’s difficult for short guys with short wingspans and no athleticism to get shots off against better competition.

I honestly don't get this take, first he's playing in chaos SL system where everyone guns for themselves, and second he's had no real issue creating shots and making plays within that. None of this is going to be what his game would look like in a NBA game and no one's gonna ask him to force up shots outside of any system. Plus I'd say a lot of shots he took today were either completely makeable or ones he was just messing around with and testing limits on.

Feels like the things we've talked about before--can he guard anyone bigger than him, will his intangibles impact this level, can he play make consistently, can he be a spot up ace--are still the things for him. SL isn't telling me much about that except the first (which aren't looking great).

Put differently: if he hit like 4 more shots from last game--couple of the runners and a couple of the basically open jumpers--would his pro prospects be better? I don't think so.

Yea, I mean I don’t think focusing too much on a small sample size of shooting is worth much, but I think the bigger issue is how it seems likely he will get abused on defense against nba players. Its going to be a tough needle for us to thread for him to be useful for us because his offense will need to be awesome for it to be worth pairing him with Maxey or even having him run a second unit since it isn’t clear he has point guard level playmaking. There were just cleaner fits towards playing time with Knecht or De Silva on the board

You can look good in summer league and be ass in the NBA.

But very rarely is a player bad and outmatched in summer league and good in the NBA. It happens but I wouldn’t bank on it.

At best, McCain will be the third option on offense at any point in the game during the regular season at least for this year. Certainly behind Embiid, PG, Maxey, Martin, and Oubre on the list of priorities for opposing defenses. Thus, it's safe to say he'll get a lot of easy looks.

McCain's offensive efficiency has been pretty awful thus far.

Aside from that, decent court awareness and shows flashes of a floor game, but needs to clean it the hell up on offense.
