Jazz Focused On Brandin Podziemski, Draft Picks In Lauri Markkanen Trade Talks

The Utah Jazz and Golden State Warriors have reached an impasse, for now, in trade discussions for Lauri Markkanen. That blockage is around the inclusion of Brandin Podziemski and draft picks in a potential deal, according to NBA insider Shams Charania in a recent appearance on Sirus XM NBA Radio.

The Jazz have asked for Podziemski and several unprotected picks and swaps in a trade. The Warriors are open to a deal involving Podziemski or significant draft compensation, but not both.

If Utah is unable to trade Markkanen this summer, which would kick off a full rebuild, they are comfortable extending the All-Star forward's contract. Markkanen can work a renegotiation-and-extension of his deal on August 6 with the Jazz.

Is their anyone that doesn't understand that UTH is already in a "full rebuild"? They have been for 2+ seasons. Markkanen being better than expected (or reaching his potential) only helps in the ongoing rebuild.

The Jazz are retooling. They are too good for rebuilding. If they want Flagg, they should trade Lauri. Otherwise they win 37 games or whatever again and have a 1.5% chance of a franchise player. Lauri is an All Star but not a franchise player.

Some teams are fine with 37 wins annually however.

That's exactly what I thought. What do they think they are going to get a 7 foot all star that can play 3 positions that just turned 27 for.

Utah has all the leverage to begin with because their are only so many gettable players on the market anyway, especially one that fits well with Steph, and they are trying to keep him happy too. You aren't going to bring Ingram in there to dominate the ball.

GSW living in a dream land I mean lakers should get in this just offer AR 2 first unprotected and swaps take the protection off the pick they already gave them and maybe they can offload Gabe in the deal too..
