same blazers trade, but different (POR / LAL / ORL)
Assumption: Anfernee Simons whants to win (he already say that) so badly that does not care if he is starting or not (and he is thrilled to go back to his home town)
Blazers
Blazers Out: Jerami Grant, Anfernee Simons, Duop Reath
Blazers In: Orl 2025 FRP, LAL 2029 FRP, LAL 2031 FRP, Rui Hachimura, G.Vincent, Salary fillers to be released (Russel, Wood, Reddish, Hayes)
Why for POR: They trade their 2 most talked veterans while bringing back 3 valuable first round picks, while bringing back small long therm salary so we can start the capture the flagg season. (I expect Rui to have some kind of value and be on the trading block)
PG: Scoot, Vincent, Banton
SG: Shaedon, Matisse, Vet Min
SF: Deni, Kris Murray, Rupert
PF: Rui, Toumani, Jabari
C: Ayton, Clingan, Timelord
Lakers
Lakers Out: Rui Hachimura, Russell, Vincent, Wood, Reddish, Hayes, LAL 2029 FRP, LAL 2031 FRP
Lakers In: Jerami Grant, Wendell Carter jr, Cole Anthony
PG: Cole A, Vet Min, Vet Min
SG: Reaves, JHS, Christie
SF: Lebron, Knecht, Vet Min
PF: Jerami, Vanderbilt, Maxwell
C: Davis, Wendell, Vet Min
Why for LAL: they get 2 of their rumored targets while giving up their two assets, they could then chase Gary Trent Jr and move Cole Anthony to the bench (Reaves starting as pg sharing the ball with bron)
Magic
Magic Out: Wendell Carter jr, Cole Anthony, Orl 2025 FRP
Magin In: Anfernee Simons, Duop Reath
Why for ORL: They get their shooting and offense creator without having to give up the farm (and in my opinion, the best young guard you can put next to paolo/franz/suggs core).
PG: Suggs, Simons
SG: KPC, A.Black, G. Harris
SF: Franz, TDS, Jett
PF: Paolo, Isaac, Houstan
C: Goga, Moritz, Duop Reath

I would be curious to see how you think all of the individual parts equal to the total values in this trade. I think the Magic rather keep their three assets over Simons, personally.

From the orlando perspective, I value Wendell as a protected first round pick, and cole anthony as a couple of seconds, before the draft there was a lot of talk about magic and simons and the most propose trade was 2 FRP for simons or a young promising player + a FRP, to be honest I believe that the magic front office value more the continuity/assets over simons, but i truly believe that simons would thrive with this magic team.

I like it for Portland. Magic says no to WCJ inclusion to the typical Simons trade without additional compensation.

Think the easier deal is simply Grant + Walker for Rui + Vincent + 2029 FRP (Top-4) + higher of LAC / LAL 2025 SRP.
I dont think Simons to ORL is happening at this point.

The inclusion of Walker stings a bit. I’d push to get LA to take Duop instead.

Re: same blazers trade, but different (POR / LAL / ORL)
I hate the Lakers and only wish the worst for them, so I like this trade.
But if I'm the Lakers, I'm not trading 2 future picks -- and losing all flexibility and future possibility to bring in a star -- to upgrade the 3rd best player on the roster and add a back-up center in a move that moves the team from the 7th/8th best team in the conference to maybe the 6th best team.
It's not that the value is crazily off, it's that the Lakers should not invest all their picks and future flexibility in a team that cannot win a ring (or probably even a round). 2018 Lebron? Sure. 2024 Lebron: Nope.

Simons to Orlando is as good as dead after the KCP signing. Orlando doesn’t value one dimensional players that high and I don’t think they truly ever had real interest.

Re: same blazers trade, but different (POR / LAL / ORL)
Based on how Orlando has operated this offseason I don't think they are looking to do any further upgrades to their back court. I think they are happy with what they have and I think the only change would be if they decide Anthony Black is ready to take the primary backup role at PG from Cole Anthony and decide to move on from Cole. In that case I think they wouldn't be looking for somone like Simons to fill up the back court but more like a veteran that can be the 3rd string PG there to step up in case of injury.
I think in a WCJ trade they are likely to be looking for future draft compensation rather than a current roster upgrade. I originally thought they might be interested in another backup forward in case Da Silva needed some time to be ready to be part of the rotation. However, with his play in the Summer League and the fact that he was thought to be ready heading into the draft I think they're more likely to see him as part of the rotation immediately.

as I understand it, not a legal trade....pushes the Lakers over the 2nd apron so they couldn't aggregate salaries

Yeah I don’t think that we dump Walker in a deal that we should be getting the value back for our asset
Somewhere trying not to offend Texas Chuck.

Was not aware of this. Ideally PDX could do a 3-for-1 type trade prior and create the space to do Grant for Rui + Vincent + JHS + pcisk(s).
Maybe something like Kris Murray + Duop Reath to SAC for Jaden McDaniels + 2-3 SRP.
SAC can bring the Murray bros together + Duop IMO is a better backup C than Len.
PDX opens up a trade w/ LAL + shaves the roster + gets some SRP.

Jaden is clearly better and worth more than Kris Murray and Duop. How are the Kings adding picks here?

At this point, I am content to let the cake bake. We are under the tax. We have youth and vets all over the roster with different skill sets. We have a coach that will be good for tanking. And yeah, sure, we can sell off some or most of those vets when a good deal comes along, but we have time for the right deals. In the meantime, we will be trying out different combinations and positions, giving a good opportunity for our youth to develop with quality vets in practice.

I get it, I don’t want to be without vets, but I’d like at least one more move, and my pick is to move Grant, and the reason is I think he contributes too much to winning in a year I really want to bottom out. I want to get a future asset for him while slightly unbalancing our team. Additionally, I thinks his mentorship is not super needed. I think Deni has been around the league enough to be the leader of the forwards. I’ve heard he already has learned to really put in the work. Ayton I’m fine with keeping around because I don’t want to push Clingan into so many minutes he becomes an injury concern in his first 82 game season, plus I don’t think the return for him will be great. Though as far as vet mentorship, I hope Clingan listens more to Robert Williams, who should transition to a Haslem type mentorship role if he wants a long career. Simons I’d prefer a trade, but I don’t mind if Scoot sees the amount of practice threes goes into improving that aspect of his game.
