Re: Gary Trent Jr. signs with the Bucks - one year
This by itsrlf speaks volumes of his friendship with dame.
Gary Trent Jr. reportedly turned down multiple offers from other teams, which were willing to offer him multi-year mid-level contracts, and decided to sign with Milwaukee for the minimum to reunite with Damian Lillard, per @BlakeMurphyODC
“In the end, he opted to reunite with Damian Lillard and contend for a championship on a one-year minimum ($2.6 million) rather than taking multi-year offers at the smaller mid-level ($5.2 million in Year 1) that were on the table, according to league sources
Wow

Was about to say the same thing, I expect Galloway to be punted now for a big man. Not that a 2-way big will help all that much, but the depth there is non existent.
But getting GTJ for the minimum an absolute no-brainer, great get.

I definitely think we're 2nd in the East personally.
Putting us behind Philly is straight up lunacy.
It's not lunacy even though I agree that we're better. I have us 3rd.

Feels like Beasley 2.0.
He's 6'5 & doesn't grab boards. With Brook, the team needs rebounders besides Giannis, Bobby & Khris.

Trent is kind of like Forbes in that he won't help us against good teams, but he'll help us blow out teams we were already going to beat.
I do like that players prefer to play for us, and that Doc is an asset as a recruiter.

Trent Jr got 12 shots per game last season. Will he get more or less next season?

Agree. Philly will continue to struggle. Dumb coach and fragile star. Plus, Paul George doesn't care about winning 1 bit.

Re: Gary Trent Jr. signs with the Bucks - one year
The reality is he probably can't play that much better offensively than Beasley did last season. Hopefully, he's a lot better in the playoffs.
Can this guy lock in and amp up his perimeter defense? because we're going to be asking him to take opposing teams best perimeter guy every night. He needs to be up to take on that challenge.

Find little things that one does better than the other all you want, but the fact of the matter is they both suck. There's a reason it's week 3 of FA and dude is picking up a minimum contract.
Hell, this is the first time teams had to spend to hit the salary floor by the time the new league year started with the new CBA and the guy still couldn't get a deal.
Yes, signing Trent for the minimum is better than not signing Trent for the minimum, but anyone thinking this is anything different than Beasley last year is delusional.

Re: Gary Trent Jr. signs with the Bucks - one year
Beasely is a good shooter but a bad basketball player. That's the difference here. Mark this down for later - GTJ is only 25 and he's a good shooter and good basketball player. Smart, intuitive and he moves the ball with crisp passes when he's not open. Beasely is a bad comparison actually because he's none of those

Would love to do some sort of 2 for 1 where we send Pat + one of the young ins for less salary back. Might not be enough given the price to clear cash these days
Wait how does that happen?
Bobby was persuaded to take a lot less on a couple contracts to stay here long term.
I want to believe!
But if we can’t even offer the non-taxpayer MLE that seems like a lot to hope for…or please tell me what I’m missing?
That would be the hope. He rehabs his value, takes a one year deal with a wink wink contract extension in the works going into next season.
Not saying it’s likely but its possible and worked out well for Bobby.
Do it for Chuck

If we're a 60 win team it's not because of any personnel moves we made, and I wouldn't bet on us to win more regular season games than the C's, but we remain a tough matchup for them if healthy.

People are giving credit to Horst for his and I have no idea why? Feel like it's all Dame and Doc (per the espn article) and wanting to play with our big 3.
He may have ALOT of help but he's still the GM and deserves the credit in the same way he'll get the blame if moves don't work out. Coaches and players make suggestions all the time and the GM has to weight it out and decide to make the move or not.

Re: Gary Trent Jr. signs with the Bucks - one year
We have Giannis/Dame/Khris with a solid cast of role players around them. And now a non-doofus coaching staff running the show from day 1 w/ a full training camp. They're going to be extremely good for every extended stretch where they're healthy. How many of those stretches we get is the question.
Also who gives a **** what the pundits think?
