Re: Alex Sarr
I actually came to the conclusion recently, that he's a indeed a 4, who might become an adequate mid-range/long-2's shooter before he starts shooting 3's. Kind of like a poor-man's, pre-Heat Chris Bosh.
He just needs to start next to a beefy center who can shoot 3's, like Stewart or Carter.

Re: Alex Sarr
So you need a bulky stretch 5 to play him with or else you’ll get spacing problems

There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Luka Doncic told the Kings not to draft him so the Kings didn't
Jayson Tatum asked the Celtics not to draft him, but they did anyway....
and now look how that turned out
Atlanta should just draft Sarr out of spite

and I get called a conspiracy theorist when pointing out that Luka steered himself to DAL. Besides there being on the court reasons (we already had a very talented young guard that like Luka needed the ball in his hands and can't play off-ball, in Fox) to pass on him, he didn't want to come to SAC. There might have even been beef between Divac and his Dad. So the "can't believe you passed on him" continues to piss me off

Ironically, that's exactly what the Hawks have been slowly developing Okongwu into. A rotation of Hunter, Johnson, Sarr, and Okongwu would potentially offer the Hawks some defensive flexibility for the first time in Trae's tenure.
If these reports are true (and who knows this time of year?), I think Sarr's agency is being really short-sighted.

the draft pick has no leverage. if you want the guy, go ahead and draft him.

I'll take it a step further and say if we really only want him to be a 5 mostly i think our FO and coaches would be seriously short sighted as well. Jalen Johnson plays much more like a 3 with his all around skill set and athleticism than he does a true 4. Jalens skill set is similar to a Lebron arch type and he has been working out with lebron helping develop that skill set at times. Bron was a fantastic 3 and Jalen could be a very good one as well. That leaves Saar full open for the 4 spot which i think he fits very well at more than Jalen would. 2 big guys at the 3 and 4 that can rebound also help out Onyeka at the 5 where he is strong as an ox against most center he rarely gets pushed around. He could use the help from Saar and jalen rebounding against bigger ones though.
Not only that but you honestly need that size at the 3.4 and 5 around trae with all of them being able to shoot some and handle the ball well. JJ and Saar much more so than Onyeka but he is coming along well with the 3 shot and his range lol. Then that gives trae 3 really good lob threats as well.
I sweat the Hawks better not do something dumb again and pass up on the #1 player in the draft with the most upside. Im so tired of trying to defend their stupid choices year after year. Even if Sarr doesn't hit his cieling and turn into a star quality player. He is the most potential of anyone to become one in this draft he has superstar rare traits for his size. You take that chance at 1 and hope it blossoms and don't settle for lesser talent/potential because it's safer. You trust your coaching abilities to get that elite potential to it's max level.

Obviously it's just summer league, but the comparisons to Giannis are even more funny.
If he can be a 4/10 offensive player for the Wizards in four years, it will be a huge win for them.
He's just a complete 0 on offense.

Re: Alex Sarr
Okay, even I didn't expect him to be this bad on offense and I thought he was terrible on offense.
It feels like he's Ayton offensively... Without the talent.

This is also Summer League. You can't really take anything from what happens during Summer League. Lotta guys have stunk it up and become stars.

Trae Young for one. In the Utah summer league he was 12/52 from the field (23%) and 3/24 from deep (12%) over 3 games and that was his first NBA action. Derrick Rose struggled 9.5 points, 5.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds on 29.4 percent shooting, hell Lebron wasn't that great himself, 15.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists on 36.9 percent shooting, and he got dunked on by Britton Johnson.

Trae Young immediately comes to mind. Looking back at his stats shot 30 present from the field on 14 shots per game across Summer League. At Salt Lake Summer League shot 23 percent on 17 shots.

These are all incredibly better than Sarr though, especially when thinking about on-ball juice.
Nothing surprising here for Sarr though, we all knew he would struggle mightily offensively in the early stages of his career.

Sure they are better than Sarr, but it just shows how meaningless summer league stats are. It's better to look at how they move on the court, and how they stack up athletically.

8-41 in the SL so far for Sarr...brutal numbers for anyone, especially a 7 footer...didn't watch his game tonight but I am assuming he settled a lot and only got to the line twice
maybe Clingan put the clamps on him, someone who watched can verify

Nah, he still had a solid all around game besides the shooting. 9 boards, 3 dimes, 3 blocks. He definitely has the tools. Shot doesn’t look broken, he just needs a lot of hours alone in a gym.
