Stats dont matter with this kid right now. Tools are there. Just needs to learn the game it will take time but love the upside.

The only negative that I noticed was that he was out of position on defence at times but had the quickness to recover. Once he learns proper positioning, he should be an above average defender if not elite.
Watching pre draft highlights had me thinking he had a little Ibaka in his game and that view hasn’t changed.

Agreed, def behind on the IQ part of the game which is expected due to his age. During the 2 SL games, he looks like he has no idea where he should be on the offensive end. Coaches also need to get on him about keeping his arms up and not forward to slow his foul rate.

I'm not concerned about the positioning issues. Coaches will work with him on that.

Other than that...he's in the mix grabbing rebounds and challenging shots which is a positive. He can make an NBA 3 but will need more reps. Free throw shooting will also need reps.

But otherwise...he has excellent athleticism and length. He was beating everyone running up and down the floor. He has touch on the 3 and can finish inside.

Kid looks like he's extremely coachable too. Take instruction well, doesn't talk back, doesn't dwell on mistakes, nods his head and runs really fast. The other day Jama said he loves coaching him too.

I think twice now he's either air balled or barely skim rim on the first FT, and then went on to swish the 2nd one. The 3 looked clean too. Definitely just needs more reps. It's gonna be cool tracking his progression in realtime throughout the year.

Uh we haven't seen that yet. He's not even getting putbacks. His teammates aren't even looking at him when he has daylight between him and his defender and the basket. I think there's a hands issue.

how this kid went 57th is beyond me especially considering he worked out for several teams. His athleticism and body alone should warrant a late first rounder or early second in a draft that has been regarded as a weak draft. You have to assume his agency wanted him in Toronto and the obvious Masai connection had to have helped.

I saw him catch and lay it up against Denver. Showed decent hands.

I’m wondering if any guys from BAL have made the jump straight to the league (granted BAL is relatively young).

He could very well be the pioneer, hell why the F not?

Going to the G-League at his age is similar to going to college. He's going to get world-class training.
The good thing about BI is he can shoot over defenders.
The bad thing about BI is he can shoot over defenders.

@8:50

Will Lou asks him about who scouted him from the Raptors and he mentions "Mr. Pat". Can't really figure out who that is, did he mean Patrick Engelbrecht (director of global scouting)? And then who is "Josh"?

Anyways, I'm thinking if he ever ends up being a success story, I'm sure there has been a lot of behind the scenes raw video footage of Masai really wanting to draft him. They won't release any of it now so to not put any pressure on this kid.

In Ulrich's latest instagram post, he includes a picture of him and new 905 coach, Drew Jones. Seems the Raptors already have a set plan for him which will be spending a lot of time at the 905 and that's great. I would take my kids to 905 games just to watch him develop.

He blew at least 2 nice dimes from Shead so that's a little misleading. Continues to show flashes though. For as raw a prospect as he's been touted he's made some heady passes. Really intriguing prospect.

This kid has STAR POTENTIAL!!!!

Most excited I've ever been for a prospect.

His IQ has surprised me the most. You'd expect a player, as raw & inexperienced as him, to force shots and constantly turn the ball over. However, he tends to make the right reads, quick passes, and he's surprisingly been fundamentally sound on both ends of the floor.

His defense was overly aggressive the first game and once he learned of the league's foul tolerance, he toned it down a bit the next two games while still remaining relatively effective on that end of the floor.

He will spend most of his team in the G-League this year, but I do expect him to get some garbage time minutes with the Raps this year which will benefit his development.

No he doesn’t have much fundamental. Yes, he can set picks, but the way he rolls is awful. His box out needs work too.

But his reads and some of the pass he made are surprising. I believe those are from his instincts.

His athleticism is off the charts, he has the tools to hang on the perimeter in the pick and roll defence.

His FT form looks ok.

I won’t put star potential on him yet. He is still really raw, although better than my expectations on the draft day. The totals package he is having now is really something.
