I'd rather have Mobley individually than the three players New Orleans sends. Zion for Mobley might be a more interesting conversation.

Why is this a valid response?
Not trying to flame here, but 99% of the trades suggested could be answered the same way.
It is for discussion. Me being a known non-fan of Mobley, What has Mobley done to show 1) he is a max guy, 2) he is not capable of being on the block?
If I look at the potential between Mobley and (Murphy/Jones) I take Jobes and Murphy every day.
because it's nicer than saying "no f'ing way".
with your position on Mobley you wouldn't want NO to do the trade anyway, why have issues with others that wouldn't do the trade either?
I'd do the trade for the older pair (DM and Allen...) NOT the younger pair, Mobley and Garland.

But it was enough validation of Cleveland's front office priors that Mobley is the key to being a contender that Mobley's not going to be moved and he's going to sign an extension.
I think everyone knows it would take such an overpay to get Mobley from Cleveland. But I do not see him being much different than many other similar sized PF.
Mobley is the least of the best group of young PF.
Zion
JJJ
Banchero
J smith-(Mobley probably better)
The primers:
Markkanen
Porzingis
The”older” guard:
Siakam
Giannis
AD
Towns
Are you including defense in your evaluation?
I am including what is consensus the best PFs in today's game. Mobley is around #10. I would put him above Jabari Smith, maybe equal to Banchero (tough call). JJJ and Zion (Zion is better but given his injuries, I would probably take Mobley) are about equal.

Mobley is equal to Murphy/Jones.
Garland is worth more than Murray.
Make up the difference and do it.
The downside is Pels would be pretty much resigned to to keeping Ingram at a max-ish salary.
Mobley being equal to Murphy and Jones is questionable. Murphy and Jones are role players.

So is Mobley...but I know we're still valuing potential and all, but Murphy never had the chances Mobley had to shine, Trey had to fight with a bloated forward lineup for minutes and touchs. One of the reasons NOP wanna trade Ingram is to give Murphy more opportunities.

Questionable as in those 2 are equal to 1 Mobley or questionable in you think Mobley is more value than the sum of the 2?
I think Cleveland would be next to deadly with Mitchell and Garland having to nearly 40% 3-point shooters to kick out and shoot. Add in the defense of Jones and the team improves.
Some on here are saying the Jones/Murphy > Mobley. Others say Mobley > Jones/Murphy. To me that makes it a pretty even swap.

Not really. Instead of saying No way, give a reason that allows discussion. That is what this is about.
No one on this board is more “right” than the next. It is all opinions. I have no issues. I do have points of discussion.
Why would I not want NOP to do the trade?
You failed to justify your reasoning on why you think this is a fair trade simply by saying "shifting from twin tower to smaller group" which is not an argument on why you think the value is fair.
You should provide the original reasoning and people discuss the reasoning.
When you said "I'm higher on Murphy and Jones" that's not reasoning, that's personal preference. What has both of these player showed that make them better than Mobley?
You mentioned that you think Mobley only got good stats cause he was the focus on that series, but it's hard to argue that not having anyone that can score the ball around you will make a Center perform better than with a healthy Mitchel.
It is a fact that Mobley will receive a max, he showed he can perform against solid competition, is not a headcase, a 16/9 player in 30 minutes with elite defense, heck, every single team in the league would offer a max for him.
I do like Herb and Murphy, but 2 really good starters won't land a potencial star on it's rookie contract.
Don't think I was being rude, just wanting to clarify that: You ask for reasoning withour offering a decent reason too, the burden of convincing people the trade is fair and makes sense is on OP
