Me neither. But it may be he is looking for much more than that.

Salary cap relief means it's better to trade him without the extension. KATs huge salary is an albatross for a small market team paying Goebert and Edwards 40+M each and Daniels 25M. Especially with a KAT replacement in Naz Reid waiting in the wings.

That may be true but it depends on what they'd be paying Randle in that extension+trade kicker scenario. If they are expecting Randle to walk for that 'savings' they are going to want even more draft captital to do the deal...so one of the two 'big ifs' is not fulfilled and the deal won't happen.

If they want KATs salary off the team and know they will get an equal value player for 1 year AND Mitch Robinson for 2 years allowing them to compete high level again next year , it could definitely be enough

It probably would include Mitch and Deuce with maybe even Pac and Rokas, they'd want every little piece they can get. Plus it would take a third team to make the trade work because both the Knicks and the Wolves want to send out more money than they take in to avoid first apron hard cap trigger. That team would need to be a below the cap so they can take in more money than send out so this complicates it a little more.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right

There need for salary cap relief removes quite a bit of leverage my man. Especially under this new CBA.

Randle not taking a paycut. In his mind he’s already taken one on his first contract. Brunson took a paycut on his first contract as well and I don’t expect him to take a paycut on his 2nd contract. Randle will be on his 2nd contract and he will not take a paycut this time

Your opinion is just your opinion my man, not a fact people can't deny. They may pay it to stay a title contender and your opinion is moot.

HOU, DET, CHA or POR all seem like the type of teams that could have interest in Randle in a trade or in free agency.

It's not even worth thinking about right now. Aug 3rd can't come soon enough...

The drama is building. Let's see what comes out of it. Randle's team flinches and Randle signs an extension ? Knicks say we ain't chancing it and move him for another player? We shall soon see. As Begley mentioned doubt knicks let him play out this year on an expiring contract and potentially lose him for nothing.

Explain how Brunson’s first contract was a pay cut when it was universally considered an overpay
