It’s crazy how many low IQ people genuinely think this is what just happened.

You completed the combo.

The Pickett selection and contract is turning out to be a terrible move. They wasted two years (on two-way deals) on Collin Gillespie and still couldn't find a backup point guard. Isn't backup PG like the easiest position to fill in the league? There's a million guards out there, but if Malone won't give them burn, you gotta bring in a "name" like Westbrook.

I am concerned about his horrible defense. If Murray has another up and down regular season health-wise and he might due to his shins, Westbrook is going to have to play a lot. Eek.

The 2023 draft for Denver has not looked good so far. Strawther, Pickett, and Tyson were all four year guys who were supposed to be more NBA ready (in theory). However, they all struggled as rookies, and Pickett and Tyson both played in less than 30 games (they weren't injured either from memory; they just weren't good enough to get more playing time).

The Nuggets will actually have Braun starting instead of KCP and Westbrook running the point with the bench instead of Reggie Jackson.

I've never liked him as a player, because he spent his heydays hunting stats. Yeah, he had a few great playoff runs, but nevertheless, he was a stat-padder most of the time. Now, Jokic asking specifically for him to come to Denver is meaningful and I'm hoping that he knows and sees something the rest of us are not aware of, but I will have doubts till we're a few months into the new season without Russ sticking to his old habits.

He can’t start . Braun is not starter .

His defensive effort is enough to have him starting and I guess he's developing his shooting this summer.

Funny thing is Nuggets upgraded shooting at backup PG spot from last season
In 2023-24 Reggie Jackson shot 43.1% while Russ was Curry like 45.4%. Big signing :D

I think this a good fit for Russ, spacing will not be an issue with this team.

Ain't no if.

Westbrook has been like this his entire career. Love the energy he brings, but man he's hard to watch in the playoffs.

Russ should be on a team with no expectations so he can continue to feel up the stat sheet and retire as one of the best triple dub pg's to ever play. He's not a winning player for contending teams.

Even with all of his baggage he is still better than Reggie. An upgrade for sure. Reggie was ass

Jokic saw how LeBron, Giannis, KD, and Kawhi brought their teams to ruin and was like "hold my beer".

I see Westbrook playing a role similar to what Bruce Brown did a couple years ago. BB was obviously a better 3pt shooter (though honestly not by much), but Russ will provide the energy/attacking/ball handling/defense that Bruce did off the bench.

As long as he buys in, it should be a good fit. And I'm curious to see how he is in this situation vs the chaos of his prior two LA stops.

Russ will be a solid bench piece for them.

That’s a great great move for them. He’ll win them a playoff game.

People should look at this as more finally replacing Bruce Brown. Westbrook and him actually have very similar games. I think this makes more sense than most people realize.

KCP is basically being replaced by Braun and Julian Strawther (who has been balling out in the Summer League)

Oh yeah, Wall too. Good call. Can't be many guys to even be bought out twice.

As long as Malone staggers Westbrook’s and Aaron Gordon’s minutes so they don’t have two non floor spacers sharing the court at the same time, Westbrook can help the Nuggets as a secondary ball handler and facilitator.

Whether or not this works is entirely up to RW and if he can change and adapt.

Jokic- Jordon
Gordon- Saric
MPJ- Watson
Braun- Strawther
Murray- Westbrook

That team is still a Naz Reid away from doing legit damage.

Saric is a center and DAJ is retired

I get what you are saying, but Dario Saric is no centre!

So I guess this is another season where Jalen Pickett just isn’t going to play or have a chance to develop.

For a team that’s capped out and has a cheap ownership group they NEED these second round picks they’re spending on older college players to turn into rotation players to remain competitors.

If Denver is signing up for a future where they only have like 5 real NBA players on the roster and then is going to try to fill the gaps with washed up vets I don’t see them contending for titles.
