summer league, but still... boys got skills, clearly. Need to add more strength so he can provide more defensive resistance... that will come in time.

Can we see the Kolek + Rokas back court for 30+ minutes please?

I think the only way Jokubaitis is on the roster is if Deuce gets dealt.
Kolek should be able to make our roster regardless as he brings a skill set that’s lacking on our roster, as an elite passer.

They're not totally related. Deuce isn't a real PG and Kolek maybe not being the next Steve Nash doesn't mean that you have to deal or keep Deuce or Kolek. The Knicks still need a real backup PG more than they do a 3rd string SG.
No, I understand and Kolek could/seems to be a real gem, which I'm absolutely happy about.
Deuce is not a 3rd string SG though, he'll be 1st PG off the bench, even though he's not what many consider a pass first PG.
He's a steady and playoff proven young vet, with tenacious defense whom Thibs trusts explicitly in his role. Also because the Knicks are all about defense, Kolek's role will be limited for now.

I wouldn’t be too worried about playing Kolek or Rokas if they both make the team. They can get the Deuce treatment and play g league games and get spot minutes when there’s an injury. Spending most of the time cheerleading and practicing with guys on a title contender can still develop

But would Rokas leave Europe to play G league?
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

No. He wants more than an end of bench role.
I don't know how much he can make in Europe if he stays but I just think there's a lot to consider. His family. His comfort level. His role. His money.
It's not about what the Knicks need or the fans want. It's about him. Why would he sacrifice any of the above things to possibly play 10mpg or NOT AT ALL. DNP/CD is Thibs middle name!

Probably but it’s easier to claim a rotation spot in a couple years if you’re already here and not overseas.

There's no path to Rokas playing that doesn't involve a catastrophic injury at either guard spot.

Summer League being over soon positives:
1 Not having to watch Launchington
2 Not having to listen to Sam "Cure for insomnia" Mitchell any longer

Re: Knicks Summer-league Thread July 12-22 at UNLV
So, who makes the roster?
C: Mitch, Sims
PF: Randle, Precious (I assume he comes back)
SF: OG, Mikal, Diop, Didiet
I know Mikal & OG will get time together on the floor either at SF/SG or PF/SF), but this is just for counting
SG: Donte, J-Hart, McBride (again, Josh & Donte will get time together, depth is a plus)
PG Brunson, Kolek, Payne
2-way: Hukporti
That's 14 counting precious. Only room for 1 more roster spot, 2 more 2 way contracts, 3 total. 2 if we assume McCuller gets one.
. . .
Options:
Skapintsev, . . . he's big. I'm guessing no. I think they can do better with a free agent center for the vet minimum.
Brother Toppin . . . looked pretty good in SL so far, we're loaded at SF though. Maybe a 2-way.
McCullar . . . they're not going to waste a draft pick. Guaranteed a spot, but I think the final roster spot will got to a vet and he'll get a 2 way.
Rokas . . . I think he's squeezed out. Possible trade bait.
- -
So my guess. McCullar & Toppin get 2 way deals. Precious signs and they sign another vet center (not sure who).
Rokas / Payne get dangled as possible trade bait mid season. The Payne signing wasn't just for PG depth as rookie Kolek gets his footing, but he's also a trade chip at the deadline.

good analysis. I'll say Precious gets 14th spot, Rokas gets 15th spot. McCullar Jr. and Hukporti get 2-ways and they develop in the g-league along with Rokas and some of Kolek.

I don't think Rokas stays if Kolek is ahead of him. Rokas can play better defense and is more experienced than Kolek and those traits are important to Thibs. We have Cam Payne now so we don't really need Kolek to play rotational minutes. I see him as "situational" while he develops his game. Maybe come playoffs he'll be able to contribute?
Just sign Precious and Rokas and let's go.
