Yes they are fun, and funny, but they aren't very good in terms of analysis of the game. I get tired of Shaq talking about "the others" all the time. Same with Chuck, his main point is, superstars have to step up.

On the other hand, the ESPN halftime panel is far worse.

They're not supposed to be expert analysts... it's for entertainment.

I know. But some fans would like some analysis of the half that just happened, and what the teams have to do next half, and what moves coaches made or should make. Kenny's short time at the big screen doesn't provide much. I guess entertainment is what more viewers want.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

this means that if you're a fan of the big market/superstar teams like lakers, boston, knicks then getting league pass may not be worth it b/c each team may get something like 20 national games.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5651014/2024/07/22/nba-tnt-sports-amazon-media-rights-deal-match/?partner=slack

While TNT has the contractual right to match an offer, per its current contract, the NBA is expected to decline the network’s right to take the agreed-upon Amazon package, sources briefed on the NBA’s plans said. The league’s preference is to honor the $1.8 billion per year contract it agreed to with Amazon.

The schism is expected to lead to more discussions with the cloud of a legal fight hanging over the future of the broadcast and streaming deals.

NBA may still fight this in court if this is a true match
if its only monetary, TNT will get it but I read it wasn't that specific

Seems pretty clear cut, if they have the right of first refusal, then denying them the match is a violation of the contract. I wonder how that impacts the broadcast for next season if this is drawn out in the courts, might leave a ton of games not being broadcast at all if TNT wants to play hardball.

TNT is such a cheap a$$, they dont have a strong streaming platform like amazon, and they are doing this now just to save their face by finding contract loopholes

this would start 25/26 not next season. NBA can't play dirty next season with TNT's content

Ah that makes a lot of sense, I figured it was pretty dangerous to be doing this so close to the start of a new season

Issue is right of first refusal tends to be vaguely defined. NBA lawyers will come up with some random arguments that TNT didn’t truly match Amazon’s offer.

Main point of contention is Amazon deal is streaming only plus has 200+ mil subscribers, vs tnt is cable + stream and only has about 100mil subscribers.

Plus Amazon has pledged to pay 3 years upfront. Tnt had to go find someone to front/loan then the money.
